Is this for me? It's well instructive but it's a needless procedure. Get rid of Membership and make Upload File default on customer accounts.
Hello, preacher. Choir here. I didn't design, develop or maintain the process. I'm just passing along the most recently discovered workaround.

Since I'm not a member of a Group...never have been...I didn't need instructions to leave one. Therefore, I presumed your instructions were meant for Cox (vendor) to adopt and publish...perhaps in their Forum Guidelines, Forum Instructions or Group "Sticky Note"...because, really, in a few weeks, who could find your reply.
Since I presumed it was meant for Cox, I added my 2¢ in the Curt-Cox conversation. Just get rid of membership and update our default privileges to upload files.
Is your solution really a "workaround?" The option to Leave is already coded into the Groups. You just need to choose one of the multiple paths to get to the option.
1. Group Home Page > Leave
2. Profile > Groups > [Select Group] > Leave
3. Settings > Subscriptions > Unsubscribe
4. Notification Icon (lightning bolt) > Locate You are now a member of the [Group] Forum message > click X icon- CurtB6 years agoHonored Contributor
I do not want to scroll through 17 updates inside a tiny window about stuff I don't care about.

Why are you fussing with me? I was just trying to help you eliminate the notifications you don't care about. Being a member of a Forum group and being subscribed to a Forum group are two different things. I didn't say anything to you about leaving a group. My instructions were about "How to unsubscribe from a Forum group" to eliminate the notifications you don't want to receive.

I'm not fussing with you. The "17 updates inside a tiny window" was just an illustration for not wanting to be a member of a Group. You mistook my illustration as needing help. I appreciate your help, but I didn't need it.
From my readings, I understand people have a problem with being overly notified about stuff they've never contributed. They're being overly notified because they're a member of a Group. My "17" was an arbitrary number and the tiny window is the red bubbles over the Notification icon (lightning bolt). I want to limit my bubbles to only posts I've contributed. I wouldn't want to scroll through a list of every uninteresting nuance happening within a Group.
If there's a difference between being a member and being subscribed to a Forum group, I believe you. I don't know because I don't have experience with memberships and subscriptions. Frankly, I don't understand why anybody would want either of those. Titles with bold font on the Home pages already indicate new posts and updates. Why would I want more notifications? Being a member or subscribed to a Group is just superfluous.
