Deleting emails on Cox deletes my emails in Outlook

i've used outlook back to 2002 & have always setup cox as pop3 on primary device.

laptops + cell phones are all imap because when i'm traveling, i can access email thru hotel wifi but can't send.

i delete what i want from either laptop/cell phones, have emails i want when back to home base.
