Cannot receive emails on my computer any longer. Still trying to figure out. Did the port settings change? Did Cox go web mail only?

Last week, 9/24/2020, my Windows Live Mail won't connect to COX to get emails. I checked Cox and I'm unsure if they changed port settings. I believe I have the correct setting now of 465. I even updated my account with a new password. Also, did I read that Cox is going web mail only? Too many support pages on the support site to read. 2 hours into this I'm done. Will try calling in to tech support another day.

Has anyone gone through this recently? Thank you for your time.

      Sorry my internet has been down this morning too. I have Windows Live Mail 2011. My system came with Windows 7 but has upgraded to Windows 10. I have been getting COX emails for years now. This just happened last week or so. I did check COX and I changed my outgoing to 465. The inbound is POP3 and is 995. Here is the message I get when trying to get email:

      Unable to send or receive messages for the Cox (username) account. An unknown error has occurred.

      Server: 'pop.cox.net'
      Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800C013E
      Protocol: POP3
      Port: 995
      Secure(SSL): Yes

        Edit your username outta your post.

        Windows 10 had an update last week...at least mine did...so ensure your OS is up-to-date.

      To your question, Windows Live Mail was an email client included with the now obsolete Windows Live Essentials 2011. For more information visit https://bit.ly/3iuvsCN. With that said, my suggest to the OP would be to look into alternatives to replace Windows Live Mail. Windows 10 has a built-in email program however Mozilla Thunderbird is very similar in look and feel to Windows Live Mail if that sounds like a better alternative.

        So Windows Live Mail is compatible with Windows 10; however, Windows Live Mail is no longer compatible with the security components of Windows 10.
