Hitron Coda56 Firmware version

Hi all -- I've been playing whack-a-modem lately.  Cox tech recommended I try a different modem than my Motorola B12 so I bought a Arris S33 but that one shuts itself down after about 20 mins of uptime so it's going back to the store.

So, third try -- I picked up a Coda56 and it's working so far but I can't access the web interface.  Hitron says "The ability to access Hitron’s CODA56 GUI requires firmware version 7.3.5.0.1b2 or higher.  This firmware is only available from your ISP"

So my question is what firmware does Cox provide for the Hitron Coda56?  Can I expect it to update eventually so that I can access the web interface?

Thanks!

Hello. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your internet service. Firmware updates from Cox are only pushed out on gateways that are being rented from us. We do not provide firmware updates for 3rd party bought modems. I do apologize. I would recommend going to the manufacturer's website for any firmware updates they may offer.

This is what the manufacturer says about it, verbatim:

Hitron does NOT provide end-users with a direct link to downloadable firmware for cable modems.  Instead, firmware updates are handed over to the Service Provider, who test and distribute the firmware to the respective cable modems on their network.  This firmware is currently available for Comcast, Charter, and Cox Subscribers.

Let me explain in detail please. If the manufacture has a firmware update they push it to us and we in turn update it automatically through them. We do not provide firmware updates on our own because there is always a chance to brick the modem and Cox does not want to be held accountable for your 3rd party equipment.

Can I assume then that firmware version  7.3.5.0.1b2 or higher is unavailable to users of this device on the Cox network?

I regret that we don't get the information as to when new firmware is available and when it is pushed to the modems.

Firmwares are pushed out by Docsis Engineering automatically, once they are approved. Call cox tech support, and request to be escalated to CAG. They can see if you are running the latest Cox approved firmware.

Just because Hitron says their latest firmware is XYZ, doesn't mean it's passed testing by Cox's Docsis Engineering.
