Intermittent Internet Outages

I have been having intermittent internet outages going on for at least the last 4 weeks or so. Once it started happening, I went ahead and replaced my wireless router and my modem. Neither have resolved the issue. I have a Roku connected via an ethernet cable. When the internet goes down, so does the Roku.

My modem is a Hitron CODA56 and my router is a TP Link Tri Band BE9300 (Archer BE550). When the internet goes out, I check the Cox app to check for outages and it always says that my "network looks good". It's currently set up as a dynamic IP with smart connect enabled. OFDMA/MU-MIMO is also disabled. I don't have a MLO network and don't have a IoT network. Also have a TP-Link AC1200 WiFi Extender (RE315).

Also went to the my laptop's device manager and unchecked "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" button.

I've also had 3 service calls. First guy checked the internet in the house with his tool, and said it was working fine. Second guy went into my crawlspace and replaced a bunch of barrel connectors. Third guy replaced the line from the telephone pole to my house. None of these resolved the issue.

I'm at my wit's end and I'm about to sign up for AT&T fiber if this problem doesn't get permanently resolved. I've heard nothing but horror stories about Spectrum via friends up in LA, so I might have to roll the dice on AT&T, even though I absolutely hate AT&T.

Same here and it is affecting my ability to do my job. Have already decided to leave Cox/Spectrum. I don’t think they really understand how important a reliable connection is.

This an ongoing problem. I’m ready to switch providers. Now that you all have’s merged with spectrum and didn’t let your customers know, the problem has gotten worse. I think I’m going to go back to AT&T next month

Cox has genuinely been the most infuriating provider to be with. I’ve had back to back issues with the outages but the worst part is disconnecting from work meetings or doing anything work related especially working remote 2 days of the week. Disconnecting from clients or colleagues during calls is getting so tiring.

I've had my internet going out 20 to 30 times this month I think it's the transition that spectrum is making with Cox. But also you mentioned that when you're on the website or the app it says everything looks good in your area I fell for that I called the technician and he told me I had an outage in the area and I told him well why is it saying everything is okay. The smart help help sometimes with the app or online but every time you get to certain point it locks up with need to send a text it should allow you to redo it multiple times but it resets after a few hours to try again.

One thing I'd like to suggest which I did and didn't think of it right away is I had my coaxial cable running through my UPS backup power and then to my modem if you do have a UPS and it's going into that unplug it and run it direct to the modem I had my speeds cutting out and it was fixed.

I did add a gas charged surge protector to the cable line for $10 that's all that problem that I was worried about surges frying all my equipment connected. You could also get the wp8 modem/Wi-Fifrom Spectrum that is included with the 2gig upgrade for free and bridge it to go to your router in the settings I have a separate router that I've always used also.

This transitioning. I think is screwing a lot of people up because there's a 60 to 90 minute wait on a call back with tech support but if you call the upgrade number they'll upgrade you over to Spectrum you'll get unlimited data for free I transferred my cell phone over which works now but they have not sent me out the modem board / router yet they say it's supposed to come today but I've been promised three times prior one time they were just going to send me a modem that I had before that was a DOCSIS 3.1 and instead they sent me a coaxial cable how do you mess that up even though he knew the model number and repeated it back to me. They say they're sending it out to me but UPS my choice doesn't say anything's coming to me today. It was my luck that my modem is 5 years old and I have to leave it on all the time for it to work I usually turn that off along with my Wi-Fi for my own reasons every night overall I've not had much problems over the last decade with them so that took me 30 days to think oh my gosh I left that cable through my UPS system let me take that out and plug it directly in the modem and it fixed the problem ran a speed test and it was back to normal. Hope I've helped
