Software update pop-ups

I am frequently getting pop-ups on my screen when using my cox.net email account.  They are inviting me to update software.

Are these suggestions from Cox or just an ad / hazardous site?

Thanks

Software update pop-ups,

I can see how this might be disconcerting. I really couldn't say what's going on without more information. What software are you being invited to update? Are you on a specific website when you see the pop-ups or does it happen no matter the site you visit?

I'm getting the same thing.  Only on Cox and only once in awhile.  I have an iMac and and must force quit the browser.  There is no option to not update.  The pop-up cannot be closed.  I'll get the name of the "company".com that claims to be sending the message when it pops up again.

Search for...download....and install Adblock Plus for your browser.  I haven't seen a pop-up or ad in 3 years.

I think they mean this. And the fact that the same ad is up after I specifically warned Cox about it, and after it was taken down. Why was the ad's sponsor not blocked? Or why isn't there some kind of screening process? I only see three possibilities; Cox wants you to get malware(to upsell CTS), they don't care enough to ditch the revenue, or they are incompetent. I don't mean to be mean...but guys..this is really bad. Come on.

And feel free to hold the suggestion of Adblock. Its more a matter of principle then any "serious" threat. I already use it on some browsers, but have it disabled for testing on others.

Hi Health Edge,

We did take this ad taken down in January, so thanks for letting us know that it reappeared! I reported it this morning and requested that it be removed... Again.

Sorry, everyone!

I have no doubt you guys are doing 110% your job, its the suits Im mad at. There the ones who decide who to make advertising contracts with...and it seems they have partnered with a agency that promotes adware. So taking down just one add won't fix the issue, since Cox is still "subscribed" do that advertiser. Technical support has NO motive what so ever to want this ad up. If anything its probably making some of your job diffacult, since Cox Technical support is probably the first people the victums of the malware call, and rightfully so, if they got it from Cox's site.

I used Adblock Plus and it was great but now that I have Explorer 11 it doesn't work anymore. Any suggestions?

This is Pedal20 again- this is getting out of hand - now pop-up says "Your System about to crash" - "fix it here".  There is no X to close it -just ignore it.  Now this happened prior to signing into Web Mail - I have a Mac with SAfari - sure hope Cox is paying attention to this!  They have been notified a few days ago!
