Hi are the above signal levels for a netgear cm400 considered good or acceptable? What are the minimum, best, and optimal ranges? I am on premier 150mbps download 10mbps upload legacy Internet plan is the cm400 best for this or is there a better modem recommendation for best possible efficiency and performance, speed, stability, and connectivity? Thank you

The optimal signal ranges are -10db to +10db for the downstream power levels and upstream is 35db to 50db. So the signal levels are both within range. The CM400 modem will work fine for the tier though if you are looking for the best results and future proofing for upgrades to the speeds you would want to look for a modem with at least 16 downstream channels. You can view the list of supported modem on our site https://goo.gl/O7Si2J here.

Would a CM500 be adequate for future proofing and best results?

@vegasmar6

If I recall correctly the CM500 is a 16x4 modem which will probably be good until speeds increase again.

@ChrisL

Thanks for the reply so the CM500 would be like the above poster said as in great for my service? Also can you check and see if my current mac model sn is correct along with firmware version? I have the CM500 now I switched it out and I believe on netgear's site it says for the CM500 the latest cox approved firmware is V1.01.05 but my modem at 192.168.100.1 says it is running V1.01.04

Any way you can push it to my modem the latest and greatest and check on the mac model and sn? Thank You

V1.01.05 hasn't been approved on our end we can try and push it through. Please let us know when is a good time EST.

Strange because here it shows that it is approved for cox at that version: https://kb.netgear.com/000036375/What-s-the-latest-firmware-version-of-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-modem-router

No need to worry though because there was a maintenance at midnight almost 2 hours ago and the version went to V1.01.05 from V1.01.04 so it looks like the field techs got it automatically without any necessary intervention. I guess it was a good time to do a swap. I know the latest version addressed the security vulnerability and what not. Looks like we are all good otherwise just assuming the right model CM MAC and serial are on the acct. However it is provisioned it is working fine and I'm sure the rep got the correct digits. The self activation VLAN never works always have to call it in. Thank You

So far I am happy with the swap and am noticing the difference between going from an 8x4 D3 to a 16x4 D3. Granted I'm in a maintenance window right now that has restarted the net 3 times including the firmware update but the IVR said there would be work being performed for 90 mins up to 6 hours from 12a-6a and to expect this otherwise it was perfect all day and evening. I know they are discontinuing a lot of the old legacy modems soon. My guess is preparations for this and service improvement. The signal levels don't look too bad normally its bonded from channel 17-32 at the highest frequency and mostly 0 dbmv for all downstreams ups around 40 on all chnls.
