ROKU Authorization Difficulty

Why in the world are we paying so much money to Cox and not have the ability to stream channels through a ROKU device? I wanted to stream the Lifetime Channel on my ROKU to watch a movie. I am well within my right to want to watch programming on a ROKU - yet Cox has made it difficult to authorize certain television channels to view online and through ROKU. Cox was not listed as a cable provider - which is funny because a whole bunch of hole in the wall companies were listed but not a prominent company such as Cox?! Why? So I can shovel more money at Cox for a DVR?!

Might want to search the forum for this question. It has been answered many times.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question with no answer or clarification. Perhaps, when I have ample free time - I'll search and scroll through all the questions to find an answer that actually helps. The attached link does nothing but show other's questions and comments with no real answers.

Wow,  your lazy. Rather then search the forum for similar topics. you post twice and mock me in doing so. The reason why they won't double-dip with Lifetime (and other such channels) is they already pay for them as part of the Hulu package. So if you have Cox and Hulu, your all set. If not, then your stuck watching the shows on Cox's website. There is even a entire forum dedicated to questions like the "App Forum" where there are multiple threads on this issue. The reason there is never a fix, is because it won't be fix. The best Cox can do is put in a content request, but I doubt that will matter because of reasons above.

See more info about such things here.

Oh, and theres even posts on the first page of the TV forum too. Did you look at the forum at all before posting?

Sorry you got treated like that robnangel. I would think it has something to do with content streaming agreements Cox has with Lifetime, but that's just a guess. Might wanna call and talk to them about it directly, see if they will give you the "Official Cox answer" about it. I know, not much help but it's the best I can come up with...get it from the horse's mouth as it were instead of speculators.

Im just saying there are like 10 threads on this forum on that, alot of them on the first page. He has a negative attitude, so I gave it right back. Why is it we must always be nice when newbie posters rage on here and don't fallow basic forum guidelines?

Yes robnangel, again if you're not getting the help you want on the forums about it, just give them a call, I know it's a pain to wait on hold and that, but it will probably get you a pat answer and not just speculation.

Thank you so much smtips for pointing me in the right direction and not resorting to name calling. Health Edge knows nothing about me - so it's not too much of an issue for me. But I feel badly for whomever else he feels wastes his time on the forum by asking questions that have unknowingly been addressed.

Hi robnangel,

Ultimately, the Network owns all rights to it's content and gives permission to providers to re-broadcast it. Adding additional online access comes at an additional price. Cox absorbs as much of these cost increases as possible, but inevitably the customer has to pay more through retail price increases on their cable television bill, which is why we work hard to negotiate the best price possible for our customers. I've submitted a request for you and if you have any other request, please feel free to email us at cox.help@cox.com.
