I have a network of a desktop computer and laptop connected by a router.The computers are on separate floors and
the laptop is much slower than the desktop.The desktop speed is 65 Mbps up and 26 Mbps down. The laptop
is 28Mbps up and 20 Mbps down. Is faster speed available for the laptop

The wireless speed available will depend alot on the technical abilities of the laptop and router. What model laptop and router do you have?

Another thing to consider when connecting wireless is what other things in the home could be causing interference.
Wireless landlines
Wireless door bells
Baby monitors
Not to mention Metal appliances/walls and a variety of other things.
