Internet connection stopping every few minutes

I've only had Cox for about a year now. But lately, it has been a pain. My modem keeps shutting off and on, and my internet drops constantly. It's frustrating when you are online, and have to start over, and over, and over... I've tried resetting in, closing my internet page, and clicking on it again etc. You all need to fix Cox! How do I fix this constant dropping?

There seems to be an aversion on COX HSI's part to acknowledge this. The issue is the most talked about on these forums and there seems to be nothing but ... "replace modem" , "replace cables" and similar ** like this when it comes to tech support.  Oh well ... maybe is time to seek a new provider. I've been battling the same problem for weeks now. (every day)

When the connection drops are you seeing the lights on the modem all go down and flash back up, or is it only changing the status on the computer/device stating limited connectivity or no internet access when you see the problem?

I am having the same exact issue. I'll get about 5-10 minutes of usage and it will drop for about 30 seconds to a minute. The lights do not turn off, they stay on. It will just drop. It is kind of annoying when you can't use the thing you are paying for in the way that you are promised it will work. At least even some of the time.

Well, just had a new one. The whole thing just reset by itself.

In my case the lights stay on indicating that nothing is wrong.

I am having exactly the same problem.  I have reset everything several times.  Taken all devices off except the "wired" (not wifi) desktop, but get same results.  In fact, I had to wait about a minute to complete this post, since it stopped right when I started typing.  Nothing happens to modem or router, just a disconnected message in my Netgear genie control panel.

I have been with cox years and had the same issue , it is cox website and it has nothing to do with your computer .

You need to contact cox support ask them to come fix the problems you have beside nothing is going to take place because the wiring for cox is so old and like on my street most of time I have no connection at all and they keep telling me they are in process of fixing the problems and I have confirm this with some of my street people whom are living near me and they are complaining about the same issure .

I think give them a call and see if they are willing to help out otherwise there are other companies around at lower cost and less headach .

I have my office out of this area and have been with att for years never had a problems in years , I mean in years but at home where I have cox always slow and always problems.

thanks

That's pretty consistent with the lack of any obvious indication of problems from this end as well when I look at the modem.  Can you try without the router to see if that helps any?

For the past 3 to 4 weeks my gateway will reboot and screw up my internet connection for about 10 minutes.  I just sat and watched it reboot again.  This happens between 4 and 5 pm on a daily basis.  This ** is getting old, really old.

It might be a good idea for all of you to start your own topic. The likly hood of people probably on other sides of the country having internet issues which aren't localized is extremly rare. What is more likly is each person is having a similar symptom but with slightly different causes. As for the person who thinks its a problem with the website...I hope you are trolling sir. I also hope you are not my next Xray technician.
