My husband and I have lost connection to the internet since mid February. It started every morning at 4:07 am. Now that the time has changed it goes down every morning at 5:07 am. What is up with this Cox? It will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 10 minutes then back up again. Never rebooting the modem or anything. What gives?

I checked the connection from this end and all seems well with the modem. Would it be possible to try connecting a computer directly to the modem then resetting the modem and see if that works?

I checked again and the modem isn't showing any indication that the connection is dropping. Is trying without the router possible?

Thanks for sharing. The connection still appears it's not dropping from this end. Did you try without the router yet?

Actually I mean the router, in your case what appears to be a D-Link router. It isn't necessary for a basic working Internet connection. Ideally we'd want to try connecting a PC directly to the Cisco modem then resetting the modem and see if it works better that way.

we will try it tomorrow morning at around 5:00 am but we have 2 computers that my husband and i use to play games. We can't run just one computer for long. I would go NUTS lol His computer goes down first then mine a few seconds later.

The idea here is just to see if it works. If it does that would suggest there's a problem with the router that needs attention.

at 5:00 am we disconnected the router and plugged my husbands computer into the modem. He then rebooted the router. Then reconnected both of us and we were still up .. both of us. Next?

I think that the exact same thing is happening to me. Every morning I wake up 6:30am to find that my internet connection is down. I reset the modem and the wifi router (Airport Time Capsule 3Tb) and things work from that point on.
What does COX do every morning?

I see that Chris suggests that the problem is with the wifi router. What Mystic's and my router have in common?
They both connect COX.

I actually don't think your problems are related to Mystic's in any way. Airport routers have a known issue with IPv6 so you'll need to disable that on the Internet connection settings (not sharing) to keep the connection from dropping so frequently.

Technically the device we provide for the router to plug into is a cable modem. Considering your issue is occurring one a day you may need to leave just a single PC connected to the modem for at least that long to see if the problem really does stop.
