I have Contour. Previously this week I could not DVR shows, it just said there was technical difficulties or something like that and try again later. After many attempts I power cycled my cable box, it did not appear to reboot properly. I rebooted it again and this time it came back online.
After that I could DVR shows again. But now I cannot watch those DVR shows ? It does not throw an error, it just does not react at all. I get to the point where I have to press Select to Watch Now..... does nothing. The Select button is working fine for every other item in the same menu, so the button works fine. But I cannot Select to Watch Now....
Starting to think this box is going bad or my signal or something is whacky?

Hey gariee,
Are you having issues viewing on the DVR box or an additional HD box?

On the main DVR box. It appears to record the shows OK but I cannot watch them. Hitting Select to Watch Now does nothing.

Got home from work and thought I would try it again, still cannot watch a DVR'd program. I am also now back to not being able to DVR programs either.... ugh, what the heck is going on? It is now throwing an error trying to DVR now, but it just flips back to "record" instead of "edit recording" so the record function never applied. How many times am I going to have to keep trying to reboot my cable box just to get it to work normally?! $230 a month for my services...... and I am not feeling that is really worth it lately

Wow, you pay $230/month for TV!?!? LOL, that's kind of sad.

I would assume so. Still pretty sad.
I pay $80/month for a reduced set of all three and I still complain to Cox about the price.

Is the cable straight from the wall to the DVR or is there a splitter? Is the power cord plugged into a wall outlet or a surge protector?

It is plugged into a surge protector and the cable comes from a two way splitter. This set up has been working fine for about 18 months in this configuration. It just now has these DVR problems.

It's possible that the splitter or the surge protector is impacting the network signal to the receiver, causing the DVR issues you have described. Are you able to temporarily bypass the splitter and the surge protector, and plug the coax cable directly to the DVR? If so, unplug the power to the DVR while you change the connections around; then plug the power back in and let the DVR reboot. If bypassing the splitter isn't possible, at least try to bypass the surge protector. Please let us know what happens!
