Cannot send an email..

I cannot send an email. My outgoing mail will not function. I tried responding to an email and also started to compose a message and then send.... either way my outgoing mail is shut down.

1. What are you using for email? Cox's website or a program like outlook?

2. When you try to send, what occurs? Error message? Does the window close? Try to give detail.

3. Does incoming mail work?

4. Are you at home on a wired connection? Cell phone? Away on vacation?

I have a similar issue. I can receive cox email but sending is another issue. I use Cox Hi Spd service, firefox is brouser, I send directly from the cox email page,OS Sys is windows XP home I have a three year old Dell.

I get an error message " unable to initialize applet", and same message for a toolbar as well. I have latest Java, and I have  uninstalled it 3 times and reinstalled it.. I have all the current plug ins and they are enabled as well as necessary

" add on's " required. I contacted Cox tech support and I was told this is a Java issue and they cannot help me. For almost $60.00 bucks a month you would think they might trey a little help, not even a lousy suggestion  :-(. Anybody got any ideas besides switching to Yahoo? Real technical headache

Cant make any suggestions on how to fix a Java issue. That is outside the scope of this forum in my opinion. If a Java applet isn't loading, you just have to keep trying to fix the Java issue.

But there might be a work around. First make sure your using Classic Webmail, not enhanced. Next go into Settings > "Do you want to always compose messages using the graphical editor? " > Uncheck that box > Click Ok on the bottom.

That will disable the auto graphical editor which runs in a Java applet and give you access to the standard plain text version. Note, you won't be able to use any special fonts or other HTML, but to use that you either need to fix your Java or use some kind of email client, like Outlook or Outlook Express.
