NOMOROBO blocks Robocalls - Why is it NOT supported for COX Customers?
NomoRobo software won an award from FTC for their ability to manage ROBOCALLS. Many cable/phone providers are implementing NOMOROBO protection for their customers. See the list of providers at: www.nomorobo.com. One way or another, I would like Cox Communication to protect me from ROBOCALLS.65KViews0likes113CommentsWhat is Cox doing to block illegal robocalls?
There appears to be no Cox solution for calls where the caller ID is spoofed or masked. The Selective Call Blocking feature only works if the caller ID is legitimate. A January phone forum post had two responses from forum moderators about nomorobo, a service that uses a simulring function. One said she would check with product managers. A second said they were aware of the significant customer concern and the customers are being listened to. Is there any Cox activity on preventing these calls or at least tracking them so the FTC can do something?20KViews0likes10Commentsrobocalls
I received an email from Consumer Reports regarding software that blocks Robocalls. With the 2016 election coming I would be very interested in this as in 2014 we were inundated by political robocalls. Even with "Do not Call" we are still inundated by junk calls. Does Cox have this or are you planning to install this in the future?9.4KViews0likes14CommentsUnwanted calls, robo calls, etc
I have been reading many comments from people who are co thmplaining about unwanted calls and how to stop them. Many people are registered with the DNS (myself included) and this is not working for anyone. There is a really easy solution which I am surprised nobody has even mentioned. My phone announces whomever is calling by voice, caller ID, etc. If it is someone I know I can answer it. If it is someone that I do not recognize but when they start to leave a message and I do want to talk to this person then again I answer it. In this way I am not talking to sales persons or scammers. END OF THE PROBLEM. A very easy solution to a never ending problem. I always have said that if someone wants to talk to me they will leave me a message and if not then just hang up like to many of these callers always do anyway. So it is not taking up my time answering calls that I do not want.6.9KViews0likes4CommentsCox feature *77 is easily defeated and virtually useless due hard core scammers (who are smarter than Cox techs)
Cox is well aware any number that comes in from "out of area" cannot be blocked by using their *77 feature but they do nothing about it. Ask them for that feature and they give you a line about how they can't do anything about it. **! They also say it is not possible to have more than 31 blocked numbers on your *60 list. Both assertions cannot be true, it is a matter of technology and if Cox is that far behind the curve, why do they charge for useless features? I've called Cox Tech Support numerous times in complaints about unwanted calls getting through in spite of my diligent use of *77 and *60. I was told to use *57 and that would go to the police as a phone trace. Just tried it, absolutely not true and does not work. All I got was: "The call cannot be traced as it is out of our service area." WHAM, Cox fails its customers AGAIN. Question: Can Cox hire some of the smart scam artists to set up an effective phone service for them? Their head techs sure don't know what they are doing.5.9KViews0likes1Commenthow to report phone harassment
I keep getting hang-up calls from a number in Deming,NM. Got 5 today. After the 4th I called the number. There was a recording saying I'd reached some sort of polling/survey company called "CMI", and I left a voicemail asking them not to call me. 5 minutes later I got yet another call. Is there somewhere on this site where I can report this to Cox or should I wait and see if I get more calls and then report it to the police?4.7KViews0likes2CommentsNomorobo
Is Cox going to offer the Nomorobo or similar service before AT&T? I personally would be willing to pay the $5 extra every month to get the service. Card Member Services and political calls are wearing me thin. Nomorobo is offered by AT&T U-verse right now for their telephone service. They do not offer it for their regular land lines. If their internet was close to Cox's I'd switch to them right now just to rid myself of robocalls and telemarketers. My number is listed on the donotcall registry and has been so for over a year. I have contacted the FCC numerous times about "card member services" They get 2.2 million complaints about them every year. Contacting the FCC does not and will never work. Please tell me that it is actively being considered because it would absolutely be a way to hold and not lose residential customers. Thank you.4.6KViews0likes3Commentsharassing phone calls from telemarketers and spammers
I am fed up, they call early in the morning and all day and night. There is no relief, except to pull the phone cord from my telephone, but then I miss important phone calls. Is there a charge, based on this, for changing my phone number? I am disabled, caring for a blind man and do not get enough sleep, at night because of intense chronic pain. I try to rest in the mornings or afternoons, but these callers keep calling, letting the phone ring, then hang up. Or they will wait til the answering machine and hang up. I sure need help in changing my number. It will be a hassle, for I will have to notify Medicare, disability and other important offices and people, but I need the peace. Thank you for your assistance in this matter...4.2KViews0likes2Comments
