Splitters for other device for splitting main line to modems and TV
We’re replacing the coaxial cable run from our Condo’s utility/ equipment room where Coax Cable connects to our attic. The main line coax run from the utility/ equipment into the attic is 100 to 125 feet. Please let me know what splitter or devices I should use to connect the main coax line in my attic (Belden 7195a RG6 coax main line) to: (1) Cox Phone Modem, (2) Cox Internet Modem, and (3) Single TV downstairs. Also, does a 2-way or 3-way splitter create less signal loss: Option (1) 2-way splitter unbalanced to the main line (with one side to the TV downstairs and one side to a second 2-way splitter going to the Modems) or Option (2) 3-way splitter (with low loss side connected to longer coax run to TV and the other two sides going to the modems) or Option (3) Suggestion for a better option(s) For small fee, the contractor will my Belden 7195a RG6 along with their RG11 CommScope 4818803 F11TSEF (830BMU). Cox recommended I have a dual line going to my attic in case of damage and my research shows the Belden 7195a is a good solid core tri-shield cable. Also, what Brand splitter(s) do you recommend and do you recommend an inline coax surge protector? I’ve been considering the Extreme Broadband BDS102H and BDS103H. Thanks!9.1KViews0likes2Comments3-way splitter for Internet Modem, Phone Modem, and TV
Please let me know if a 3-way unbalanced non-power passing splitter like the Extreme Broadband BDS103VF/ BDS103H or a Antronix appropriate? The splitter will connect to a phone modem, internet modem, and a long run to a TV. I'm also open to other suggestions. Thanks.3.4KViews0likes1CommentUseless Technicians
I was having issues with my new cable box not having any picture and called to have it resolved and was not able to do so by phone. I might add that the woman assisting me was kind and very patient so that is not the issue. The issue is with the technician they sent over to our house help resolve the issue. Well he was completely useless and didn't do anything fruitful to resolve the issue. First he blamed my son that the splitter that was issue and insisted on changing it. Well he changed it and there was NO difference. Then he said it was due to faulty cable wires that ran through the house and that we needed to schedule another appointment to have them changed which would cost $30-$75... that seemed to be the only solution for him to have it resolved. Instead of taking his faulty advice to be robbed for an extra $30-$75 we went to our local cox store and had the cable boxes swapped and the problem was completely resolved. No changes in wiring, no changes in splitters, just the cable box. I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years and if this is the way they treat long time subscribers then it's best to look for other services. Hope They have him fired! Might I add that the wiring cables go through out the attic and I believe that due to the fact that he was morbidly obese that he didn't want to prance around up there to check the problem thoroughly. Instead he did the whole 'throw everything on the wall and see what sticks' method. The only thing is he forgot to try a new cable box.2.6KViews0likes1CommentNew digital cable box and loss of TV, Amp Needed?
I have a 4 way splitter in the attic. In the analog service days all the TV's worked. Since I put this new Digital Cable box in the back room, the cable box fails to boot / start. The error says to check the cable connections. If I remove the digital cable box and connect direct to the TV I get the screen that "Cox has gone digital...". So I know I am still getting signal to the TV, but not strong enough to allow the digital box to start. As I recall I do not have a "wiring" contract / service with Cox, so I would like to know if I could install a recommend Amp in line with this single set (or before the splitter) to get this one of the 4 sets working? Thanks...2KViews0likes4Comments
