IR Extender with Contour 9852HDC Box?
Anyone know of a remote extender (and where I can get it) that works with the Contour Main Unit's IR port? We just got Contour and I have a long-used Smarthome cabinet IR extender system for all the components in our cabinet, but the Contour unit even with an IR Blaster stuck on the front panel where I believe the IR receiver is - has absolutely horrible response - so bad that it isn't really usable. Also is there a manual for that unit online? I did not get one from the tech. Or if someone could confirm where the IR sensor is in case that would be great (looks like there are 2 "eyes" in the smoky panel to the right of the display? I've tried both and can get a response from the box while behind the cabinet but as above - highly inconsistent). Than you in advance..40KViews0likes1Commentvolume and channel controls
I set up my mini boxes a couple days ago, but can't seem to figure out how to use volume and channel controls on BOTH the tv remote and the mini box remote (URC-2220-R). Would love some help from someone since my questions have so far gone unanswered. Currently I can use only use the volume on the tv remote and the channel search on the mini box remote or vice versa.22KViews0likes14CommentsCox universal remote won't control volume
I have a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 4240HDC cable box and a URC-8820-Cisco remote with cox service. My TV is a Hisense LED LCD TV (Model Number 40K20D). Everything is working fine, and the remote controls everything perfectly, except for the volume. Using the Volume Control Lock method I am able to "control" the volume in cable mode, but it doesn't actually change the volume, just shows more or less bars. I am still able to change the volume with the remote that came with the tv, so this isn't something that's completely inconvinient but I'd like to figure it out!19KViews0likes5CommentsContour Voice commands not working
This post appeared 2 years ago: ~~~~~~~~~ Hi there, Any tips or troubleshooting to get my Contour remote control's voice feature to work again? All other remote features are working okay. I also checked the remote itself and it looks fine, plus its fairly new (I got the service less than 2 moths ago). I went to the remote features and the voice option is "on", replaced the batteries to no avail, also searched the web for tips but no luck either - any input its greatly appreciated. P.s. I have two such remotes, the other one is working just fine. TVFan35 ~~~~~~~~~~ I could have written this because the details are exactly as were my own. The only thing not mentioned here that applied to me was that the voice command tone sounded strange when I pushed the voice command button. It was more of a burst of static than a tone. After unpairing and repairing the remote, restoring factory settings, checking that the voice command feature was turned on in the receiver settings, I noticed that my battery life was very low. There was enough juice left for basic functionality (about 10%) but it occurred to me that perhaps there wsan't enough juice to activate the mic and/or the voice recognition algorithm. Sure enough - I swapped out the nearly dead batteries with fresh ones that registered 100% life and all was well again. The voice recognition tone returned, as did the functionality. Hope that helps someone else -bp13KViews0likes2CommentsCox URC8820 Remote and Apple TV
I have successfully added my Apple TV to my Cox Remote using the Aux button. It appears that all functions work with the exception of Power. Pressing AUX and then Power does NOT turn on the Apple TV. If I use the Apple remote to turn the Apple TV on I can then control all functions from my Cox Remote. Any suggestions as to how I might be able to get the power to my Apple TV to turn on from my Cox remote?Solved13KViews0likes6CommentsUsing a Samsung remote to control a CISCO 4642HDC cable box--is this possible?
I'd like to use my Samsung TV remote control to control my Cox-provided CISCO cable box. BUt I can't locate the standard 3-digit universal remote code for CISCO, if there is one. In the Cox-provided universal remote instructions, it says to use a special procedure (SWAP-A buttons) to program the CISCO box. Does this mean it's impossible to control the box with my Samsung remote? (I have called support lines at Cox and Samsung so far, and the CISCO site just points back to "your cable provider" (i.e., Cox) for support, so . . . No one seemed familliar with the issue.) Thanks, Martin Smith10KViews0likes11CommentsFast Forward using Cox TV Remote with DVR
The fast forward use on DVR recorded programs never worked perfectly for me. Now, however, it does not work at all. Before FF generally worked, with some deft timing on the remote buttons. Now, I cannot fast forward DVR recorded programs. Usually, I am trying to go over commercials, but sometimes I will FF over parts of a program that, to me, is not interesting. Are there trouble shooting methods to correct this, or do you have a fix for the problem? I'm hoping cable services or networks have not found a way to stop FF, altogether. I'd appreciate your help. Thanks!8.8KViews0likes5CommentsXR-11-RF remote not working properly
About 80% of button presses don't work. The remote LED blinks green then red along with the fact that the button presses do nothing. The green then red blink indicates that the RF signal is not being received by the DVR. Had a technician come by to investigate the problem. He replaced the DVR and remote. The problem actually got worse. I unpaired then repaired the remote and removed the batteries but it did not fix the problem. The system was originally installed 3 weeks ago. The battery is at 90%. Nothing seems to fix the problem and Cox is not able to fix the problem with their equipment. Very troubling that Cox can't fix this problem. Any help would he appreciated.8KViews0likes1CommentBig Button Remote for minibox
Any action on this issue yet, Cox?! I have purchased TWO 'universal' big button remotes. They contain codes for Cisco, Cox and Cox Digital. NONE operate the minibox. There are a lot of elderly basic cable customers out there like my mother that this a HUGE issue for. Also, It would be nice if there was someway to ignore the hundreds of unsubscribed channels, so that looping was possible while channel surfing. MAJOR fail if there is no solution to this one.6.6KViews1like5CommentsMotorola DCX3200 No Longer Responds to Universal Remote - CT
We have a Harmony remote that has worked with the above box for years. Now all of a sudden the Menu, Guide, and Info buttons do not work with the Motorola box. The buttons do work with our media center so the remote does work. Was there a software update to the Motorola box? ThanksSolved4.8KViews0likes4Comments
