Slow speeds on PS4 after upgrading
Hello, do any of you have this issue I’m experiencing and how can I fix it? So I recently I upgraded to Cox’s gigablast and thought I would get amazing speeds on my PS4 console. Well that did not happen. My speeds are below 0mpbs via Ethernet cable. I can get 20-40 mpbs on WiFi but 0 upload speed. It still ** on WiFi. It takes awhile to obtain IP address and load the rest of the information while doing a speed test. On Ethernet cable, it connects right away but when it comes to the download and upload speeds, it totally **. I downgraded hoping it would fix the issue but the problem STILL remains. I'm trying to use Remote Play on my PS4 over the internet and I keep getting an error that my connection speed is too slow. My playstation is wired directly to my router via cat 6 ethernet cable. It works fine on my private network, but it will not work over the internet. I have the preferred 150 package with an upload speed of 10 mbps. Per Sony's website you need a minimum of 2 mbps and 12 is preferred, so it should work fine. I have the recommended UDP ports open on my router. It will actually connect to my playstation, just says it's too slow to initiate gameplay. Does Cox have something blocked on their end that would prevent this? Does anyone one else with Cox actually have this work for them? Thanks in advance. I'm truly at my wits and either COX, I cannot Express my disdain for this company in words. I have not been able to use Shareplay on my PS4 since being graced with this ISP. I have called and talked to multiple COX reps about my issue and none can help me so naturally into to my networking friend and Google for help, and when I say I've tried everything we could come up with, we've tried everything, port forwarding/triggering(got port numbers from sony), DMZ, swapped routers (tried 2 Cox issued modems and then purchased my own modem/router combo by netgear, I can provide model numbers when I get home if it helps) i tried a static IP but i don't think I ever got it to work correctly and I tried bridging my modem to my linksys router and they just successfully exploded the net and I had to set everything to factor and start again, I'm hardwired with CAT6 eilthernet cables, now with my personal modem I AM clocking constantly higher speeds than the issued modem but i still cannot use shareplay, its beyond frustrating, I have PS plus and both my friend and I have speeds WAY over the required. I tried to ask for help on Cox Twitter and they were worst than the phone representatives believe it or not. I did see a post up here of someone having a similar issue 10-11months ago and they resolved it by getting their own modem, I'm curious if it worked for them because it wasn't a modem/router combo or if it was before Cox started blocking ports I assume its cause port 80 is blocked which would explain why my port forwarding and DMZ didn't work, if Cox isn't sending the signal at all,opening the ports wouldn't do anything anyway but Cox will not tell me for sure if that is the reason or not I have no clue I'm just making a guess based off the googling I did. Does anyone know why it's not working? And maybe if I'm lucky a solution?? Or am I just screwed to never be able to host a shareplay in the state of NV since they are the only ISP here with speeds fast enough to even game on in the first place x.x (which ** cause I'd really love to never use Cox again) I can join shareplay's my friends host but can never host one x.x I'm going to pull my hair out with this. I can join others on Share Play all day long, but no one can connect to me when I host Share Play. While my speeds test WAY above the minimum for this activity, my signal is never strong enough to host. Or so the errors say. I have found many others with this exact problem. And the common piece with us all is that we all have Cox for an ISP. It's fine if COX makes some change in policy or procedure and ends up blocking something that affects this functionality of my gaming system. But for me to have to call and write repeatedly for help on this and get the same responses, none of which include a solution, over and over, is unacceptable. I have done everything I possibly can to fix this issue on my end, over and over again, and it is still busted. Why not just admit you've blocked a port Sony uses for this feature instead of ****ing me around all the time? Surely the company knows of this issue. I can't be the ONLY person complaining about it. STOP resetting my router whenever I call about this. I do that before I call. I do it ALL before I call. Port forwarding, DMZ, all of it. There's a call history on your systems, no? Please read it before you treat me like I'm 5 and it's my first time calling anyone other than my Nana in Ft. Lauderdale. This weekend, I am bringing my PS4 out into the desert and hooking it up to someone's home who is not blessed with COX Internet. If Share Play works, if people are able to connect to me when I host Share Play, I'm going to expect an answer from you, COX, especially after you've just increased by bill.
