Cox POP on Gmail stopped working
Hi, I've had my email pushed to gmail through POP for a while now but recently it stopped working with the error: Server returned error "SSL error: No path found from the leaf certificate to any root. Maybe an int..." I deleted the cox email account on gmail and tried to re-add it wit the following settings (actual email not shown for confidentiality): https://ibb.co/LpqPcM7 Following the Cox Business server settings on port 995 (yes this is a business account): https://www.cox.com/business/support/cox-business-email-server-settings.html And when I do that, with the SSL box checked I get: 'Unable to establish secure SSL connection to pop.coxmail.com' And if I uncheck the SSL box, I get: 'There was a problem connecting to pop.coxmail.com' If anyone has a solution to this that would be wonderful. my iphone is connected to email server through pop. my computer and other phone is also connected to email but through imap. The phone with the POP gets all the emails but when I delete one it is still on the sever whereas when I delete an email from the imap devices the email is also deleted from the server. When I try to change the POP device to IMAP it says "the POP server "map.cox.net" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "incoming mail server" field. I would like all devices to be on the same page. When I delete from one they all update so that I'm not doing work twice. Under Advanced settings I have chosen "Delete from server when removed from inbox" selected but emails that i delete do not delete from the server. Any advice1.4KViews0likes1CommentPOP email stopped working with Outlook 2013
My POP email stopped working with Outlook 2013 on Friday morning, 8/19/2016. The Chat representative was unable to help me and set up a ticket. My gmail account is able to access the POP server. Anyone else having this problem? Cox has had problems with Outlook in the past, but I don't think it has taken this long to clear it up.2.1KViews0likes5CommentsMore reliable POP server?
Several times per week (sometimes several times per day), I get a timeout trying to receive mail from pop.cox.net. It seems to happen on both Outlook (on my desktop) and my Android phone at the same time, so I assume it's server-side. Sometimes I can hit send/receive and it goes through the second time. Sometimes I give up and when I come back later, it's working again. I like storing email offline, so IMAP isn't really an option. Is there a more reliable server that pop.cox.net? Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know anything about what Cox is doing about it? I so don't want to call tech support again. It is incredibly aggravating all around, and they know it. I've been unable to use my POP account on Outlook 2013 for more than a day now. The "tier 2" tech support said yesterday that they had been working on a problem between MS Outlook POP and Cox servers since the previous evening (July 1). I've had periodic problems with my POP account and Cox off and on for a couple of years. I am not going to give up using a POP account, and I prefer the Outlook interface. I don't see the point in paying for a service that isn't working and doesn't suit my needs. Anyone?6.9KViews0likes14CommentsReceiving email on multiple devices
How do I set up my account so I receive email on all of my devices (Outlook on my computer, iPhone and iPad). As it is now, the email randomly goes to one device or another, not all three. For example, I might receive an email on my iPhone but the same email does not go to my computer's Outlook, or vice-versa. Is this because of IMAP - if so, how do I switch to POP? Thanks!5.3KViews0likes3CommentsiPhone 4S: Cox email setup defaults to IMAP, & emails disappear from phone
My husband has an iPhone 4S that was successfully receiving our Cox emails. However, he wasn't able to send emails from the Cox account on his phone. When I tried to add a "test" account to his phone, I was happily surprised that settings were automatically detected and I didn't have to enter any server or port settings. I sent him a test email, he replied, the new account could both receive and send, everything seemed great. I deleted the original account from the phone. The next day, my husband said that emails he'd read on his phone had disappeared. After searching both Cox and Apple support pages and forums yesterday, it seems that at least part of the problem is, when I add an email account, once I enter the Cox info, it says "Verified" and takes me to the next screen that says "IMAP" right across the top. There's no POP option, which we had before. The mail settings with IMAP include options like How long to keep deleted items, but nothing about keeping messages in the Inbox. Maybe the idea with IMAP *is* to get rid of messages you've already read -- I hadn't heard of IMAP until this experience -- but if that's the case, then we want our POP option back, so my husband can refer back to a recent message that he's already read on his phone. Thank you in advance for any info or suggestions!7.4KViews0likes5Comments
