No Internet / Rolling Internet Blackouts - Lafayette, LA
Anyone know why Lafayette, LA has been getting internet blackouts every day for the past week and a half? Seems like the internet goes down every day around 11 AM and doesnt get fixed until 10 PM (if at all). P.S. If my internet service isnt being provided does that mean my contract is null and I dont have to pay my bill this month?1.7KViews0likes3CommentsInternet Price Increases for Loyal Customers (Price Discrimination)
Anyone else just randomly get internet price increases? When I first signed up for the Internet Preferred package, I had an intro rate for $34.99 back in 2013. I had that for 3 months, then it went up to the $55.99 a month. Well, after only another 2 months of paying the regular rate, I got an unexpected hike up to $62.99. At the time I just dealt with it, but after talking to other people in my neighborhood with the same service, they were all paying different prices, so I called cox and they offered me a lower price ($52.99) for a year, and would lock my old price in after that. Well my year of the "promo" price is up, but I see they are still offering new customers a rate of $54.99 which was even cheaper than what I was originally supposed to pay when I first signed up ($55.99). Oh, and they are now offering a 2 year price lock guarantee. I feel like loyal customers are being punished because we get stuck with a higher bill. The worst part is there are very few options for me in my area, so Cox can basically control the prices and set them however they want knowing there aren't many options. Even further, everyone I know in my area is still paying different prices for the exact same service....and the speeds aren't even the advertised speeds half the time, regardless of time of day. Absolutely ridiculous.2.3KViews0likes1CommentNeed to migrate email from a disconnected account
I have disconnected my COX services. I would like to access my email in-box in order to move some email and advise some people that my service has changed. I was told that I would have access to our email accounts for 60 days, but my wife and I are both locked out. What do I have to do to get this resolved? You will have to send replies to **** because I CAN'T access my **** account.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsI'm not getting the speeds im paying for?
I recently upgraded my modem to a docsis 3 modem about a month or two ago. Well the guy on the phone said when you upgrade to docsis 3, your internet speeds get doubled for free. I just ran four speed tests. I did two using the cox speed test, and I did 2 using ookla speedtest. I did 2 tests using a wireless connection and 2 tests on a wired one. I have the preferred plan which says it should be 50mbps download, and if that got doubled then it should be 100 right? or was it at 25 and now its 50? Well either way, I'm not getting either of those speeds even though I'm paying for that plan. The highest download speed I got was 28mbps using a wired connection. The highest wireless was 23mbps. My modem is fairly new and so are my Ethernet cords. Nothing is broken on my end and there's no disrupting variables. The modem and router is 4 inches away from my pc. How come Im not getting higher speeds? Linksys E1200 router and a sb6141 modem.3.5KViews0likes4CommentsE-Cigarette Survey Offer
After completing the Cox Communications Survey I opted for the E-Cigarette Starter Kit trial offer for $3.95. Within two weeks they charged my credit card for $99.99 as they stated that was per their agreement. I had specifically informed this company via phone as their e-mail stated that I did not want any additional product 10 days prior to the charge. Fortunately I kept notes but I have had to cancel that credit card and after talking again to their Customer Service Department, they are not refunding $50.00 of the $99.99 charge. Has any one else had similar problems with this company (http://ecigsbrand.com/)? They have clearly violated the EFT Act and I am sure I am not the only victim. As a Cox Communications supported/recommended vendor, I expected much more.2.9KViews0likes4CommentsInternet Tools
I posted this a couple of years ago and still haven't been able to get the problem resolved. Every time I try to use an internet tools it says I must be logged in as primary account holder, but I am the only account holder. Tech support still has no clue how to solve this issue.2.5KViews0likes1CommentWhy can't i access any other webpages other than "check my mail", pictures included.
I called about this issue about a week ago and it still hasn't been fixed. The phone rep was very polite and said that they were having tech problems with the website. These things do occur but from a internet provider i would imagine they would have it corrected by now. Anytime i try to "view my bill" or "view my account" all i get is a url loaded and nothing else.2.2KViews0likes2Comments$25 Returned Payment Fee
I pay my Cox bill with my credit card using auto-pay. I received an updated credit card, as often happens to everyone. It has the same card number, but a different expiration date, even though the old card wasn't set to expire for quite some time. On Dec 13, the following occurred (in this order): I activated my new card, which instantly deactivated the old one. I starting going to my various auto-pay sites to change my card info, but hadn't gotten to the Cox site yet. I received an email from Cox saying my auto-payment didn't go through. I went to the Cox site, updated my card info, made a payment, and reactivated auto-pay. I continued to update my card info at other sites. A few days ago, I got a letter from Cox saying my account had been slapped with a $25 returned payment fee. My payment was due Dec 13, and I made the successful payment Dec 13. The payment was not late. The fee was not for making a late payment. Cox just happened to hit that short window between when I activated the new card (deactivating the card on file) and updated my card info @ Cox. (I have since called Cox. The person I spoke with was about 98% sure Cox would reverse the charge because I have been a customer for a long time, and there were no other issues. We'll see.) I called my credit union, which issued my credit card. I was told they do not charge Cox (or anyone else) when Cox attempts to charge a credit card, but is unable to do so. They also do not charge Cox when a paper check bounces. The credit union person I talked with suggested that now that people are moving away from using paper checks and are using paperless methods instead, companies are losing the revenue they received from bounced checks. Therefore, they (I only know of Cox doing this) are now using the "returned payment fee" for credit cards/auto-pay. Even before she suggested this, I knew Cox was doing this simply to increase revenue and rip-off their customers. Imagine all the times people run a card through a card reader at a check-out at a store, and it gets rejected because the person ddint' realize the card had expired. What if there was a $25 fee every time that happened? Totally unreasonable. In Cox's terma/agreements/policies, this situation is considered "insufficient funds." Now, if you bounce a check, that is typically because of insufficient funds, but when a credit card doesn't work, that could be due to many things. In my case, there was still about $10,000 of credit left on that card, so insufficient funds does not apply. AND the credit card number had not changed, so the credit card number was still valid! AND I paid the darned bill ON TIME! There are many lessons here. One lesson is, know all of your auto-pay due dates (they seem to be all over the place). If you get a new credit card, choose a day that is not a due date or even near a due date to activate your card and update your card info on all of your auto-pay sites. Cox will lose customers over this. It won't matter to them, though, because these returned payment fees will make up for lost customers. If they don't reverse that charge for me, or they ever do this to me again, I will also leave the company.17KViews2likes2Comments
