Problems with home phone cutting in and out on a Cox line
I have had calls drop, garbled with or without a headset, and have even purchased a new phone that is DECT 6.0. The base is in close proximity to the router (just replaced it also) and modem. The phone base is about 3 feet from the router and 5 feet from the Cox modem with two other handsets in the house. On calls, I constantly get drops, garbling, and told I sound like I am underwater. I have had Cox out here numerous times with no luck finding problem. I purchased a better headset, but even when not using it, I still have some problems. This issue is intermittent. I have Cox Hub in my backyard, so I am close to it. This happens on long distant calls the most, as that is the calls I am usually on. The problem is the same as with the previous phone and previous router. In addition, there are times that the Caller ID does not work and just displays 'incoming call'. PLEASE HELP!4.5KViews0likes4CommentsHome Phone calls Cell Phone
I do not have long distance service on my home phone. But the past several months, my Cox bill shows I've made long distance calls to MY CELL PHONE which is a different area code. Cox charges .18 for a 1 second call to my cell phone. I wasn't at home on several occasions, so what the .......... is happening ?2.1KViews1like2CommentsWhy no defense against spam calls, and robocalls??
I have a Cox account that includes both internet, and phone service, but I am slammed by constant, endless spam phone calls despite being on the "Do Not Call" list, and I am sick of answering the phone 20 times a day to find out that it is another robot, recorded message calling me. I would love to be able to defend against this with the NoMoRobo software, but Cox does not support it.... This is frustrating because Cox Cable has repeatedly raised my monthly rates for service, and they seem to be completely detached from the real world as far as features go. PLEASE Cox, join the rest of the world in the 21st century, and stop blocking EVERYTHING except spam!!17KViews0likes17CommentsTold Digital Phone was the same as our Analog and it wont go out during outages / storms
On a Friday our analog telephone stopped working and we called Tech support the following Monday. They told us that they would send someone out to "fix" our problem. The tech arrived and told us he was sent here because he needed to upgrade our phone line to digital. We weren't notified by Cox of this service interruption and we were really hesitant as our analog line NEVER went out during a storm. Two weeks later that changed and we didn't have any Emergency Access or regular phone access. Unreal how companies think this will improve service and causes their customers to be in more danger. What happens if a storm like Sandy hits our area...all mobile phones will be out in my area and we will be S.O.L. with this forced Digital service. Can we get our old copper telephone service back?11KViews0likes7Commentsmy answering machine does not disconnect when caller hangs up
The previous discussion by this name describes a problem shared by many Cox customers, including me. After days of group confusion, Colleen D did something to help ONE PERSON and then the forum was locked (why?). I think it is pretty obvious that Cox has a timing bug that in some cases will cause a delay in disconnect that is longer than the time to connect their muy annoying message - so the voltage never drops and the phone stays on the line. This happens when a telemarketer has a robot that disconnects upon sensing voicemail. They need to fix this for everyone by leaving more time between disconnect and message. I hope that each person who needs their cut-off on disconnect tweaked doesn't have to either independently wrestle their way through tech support or make their own post. Has anyone found an easy, routine way to get the right person to fix this problem? This is complicated by the extreme loudness of the Cox message, which actually damaged the speakers in my previous phone. Why would Cox set this up to blast for minutes on end when all they need to do is cut off the connection themselves after a reasonable time of 20 seconds or so. It is their own robot that makes the problem worse!3.1KViews0likes2CommentsCox Business Voice/ Phone only plan?
Is the Cox Business VoiceManage r(SM) Essential in San Diego with unlimited local and nationwide long distance calling for $25 per line per month available as a stand alone plan (i.e. no other services like TV or Internet required)? We want to add a Business Voice/ Phone only plan for our home office with no additional services. Also, we understand that this service is not as reliable as a copper based landline, has restricted access to 911, no longer even comes with the battery for the phone modem, and is a generally terrible replacement for the more reliable copper based phone line but understand that Cox in an effort to make more money does not support or care about copper or even care enough to give folks the back up batteries to keep the phone on in an emergency.2.7KViews0likes1Comment
