TV doesn't recognize cable box using HDMI connection
I have aMotorola - CMO6416 cable box with HD service and a plasma HDTV. The problem is when connected with HDMI my TV doesn't recognize it, so I've just been using RCA cables and going to AV. Now here's the kicker, it used to work a year or so ago and I don't even remember when exactly it started doing that, so I probably won't remember any changes I made if there are any questions like that. I've just never come around to figuring out the problem, plus my quality is ok using RCA's but I know I'm not getting full HD when on HD channels, especially good HD movies I can really notice the difference. But I know it's not the TV because when I use my Playstation 3 using HDMI my TV recognizes it and I can watch HD movies all day long. So I'm thinking something's up with the box, I've been having it for a couple years and maybe one of the updates might have messed with something.... unless the box is just plain out of date and I need a new one??... Can anyone HELP PLEASSEEE?!?!37KViews0likes8CommentsHD channel lineup
I just received an email about COX’s plan to move HD channels. This is a bad decision and does not make sense. Many people, like myself, have smart remotes, many DVR settings and other home automation that rely on current channel placement. Please reconsider! --------------------------------------------------------------------- On Jun 8, 2018, at 9:41 AM, Cox Communications, Inc. <residential@email.cox.com> wrote: To view this email in a browser, please click here Para ver en español haz clic aquí Dear Barry, On June 12th, Cox will relocate High Definition (HD) channels to where you find their equivalent Standard Definition (SD) channels today. That means you'll be able to access your shows and movies with higher picture quality on shorter, easy-to-remember channel numbers. This change will happen automatically. Your DVR recordings of HD channels will not be affected by the channel number change. But HD shows that are currently set to record in SD will need to be set to record in HD. Once complete, you'll be able to enjoy all your favorite HD shows and movies. SEE YOUR CHANNEL LINEUP AT COX.COM/CHANNELS WHAT IF THERE IS NO HD VERSION OF A CHANNEL? In these instances, the SD version will remain at its current position. WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO FIND HD CHANNELS AT THEIR CURRENT NUMBERS? Yes. You will be able to find HD channels positioned above channel 1000 at their current numbers. VISIT COX.COM/CHANNELS FOR YOUR CHANNEL LINEUP Sincerely, Cox Communications If you have an HD-capable television connected via a Cox mini box, you will be able to view TV Starter and TV Essential channels in High Definition by tuning to either the two-digit or three-digit Standard Definition channel or the corresponding HD Channel in the 1000–series range. For example, with a mini box, The Weather Channel may be viewed in HD on either channel 43 or channel 1043 (the Weather Channel numbers in your market may be different). If your television is connected via equipment other than a mini box, such as a Cox HD receiver or a Cox-provided CableCARD together with a CableCARD compatible retail device (and a Cox-provided Digital Tuning Adaptor for certain channels), programming is available in high definition only at the HD Channel position. Customers in the Tulsa service area with Contour receivers will be able to view available High Definition version of channels, by tuning to either the two–digit or three–digit channel number. I have been viewing local HD channels on my Sharp digital TV for over 5 years. Last week I got a "No broadcast" error. I tried rescanning but they are no longer there. I called Cox support and was told I needed a digital receiver to view local HD but this is not correct - the Cox website says TVs with QAM something can received these channels without a digital receiver. Can anyone tell me why I lost my HD channels? I recently downgraded from premium to economy but the channel listing for the economy package lists the local HD channels.9.8KViews0likes18CommentsWhat happened to the CW HD Channel?
I have had the HD CW channel for years now, the family watches quite a few shows on there and then one day out of the blue it just disappeared without warning and now we have to watch it in standard which is much worse than I thought it would be. In standard the volume on the shows are so low that I have to turn it up to max and use captions to figure out what's going on but when commercials come on, BOOM the sound is 10 times louder. Louder commercials will not make me pay more attention to them unless I see something interesting, so this tactic is stupid, not sure whose fault this is but it **, I realize this is common but this channel has it the worst and is most bothersome. We have called multiple times over the phone for support asking about the missing channel but no one seemed to have any idea, and they would not direct us to someone who should know. It's just, "I don't know, sorry." What the heck? Can someone finally give me an answer? We want this channel back by the way, we are paying for HD for a reason. Helpful service for once would be most appreciated, Thank You.9.1KViews0likes5CommentsESPN HD becomes Pixelated, unwatchable during Monday Night Football when on TV
Hello, This problem has come up before, but no solution was posted. Since the previous post is locked, I'm creating a new one. This problem does not occur when streaming other Cox HD channels, for example TNTHD during movies, and seems to happen primarily during the live stream of Monday Night Football (MNF) specifically.Other channels have been checked during the same time as MNF streaming and do not have the issue. I'm having the exact same problem as the one posted here. In addition to the details provided, the picture quality becomes unwatchably pixelated, the entire stream freezes, and the movement is choppy even when the HD is working. Whether streaming on my laptop or via HDMI to the TV, the issue persists. In attempting to diagnose the problem I have tried both wired (cat7) and wireless internet connections and using 3', 6', and 10', 4k rated hdmi cables. I'm streaming from a Lenovo laptop with a Radeon Vega integrated graphics card. Internet speed test shows 261.8 Mbps down and 11.9 Mbps up via ethernet cable. The TV is a LG 55" OLED. I'm streaming from Hartford. As far as I can tell, there is no hardware or connectivity issues that could explain the extremely poor quality. Other channels stream without the same quality issues. Looking for solutions/explanations. Hoping this isn't a throttling issue with a busy ESPN MNF live stream. Thanks!6.7KViews0likes10CommentsCertain channels missing on HD
So, I just received my new cable box (with Contour and so on), and I have the Advanced-package, I'd say. It's supposed to show all channels both regular and HD. Somehow I get CNN (channel 49), but no CNN HD (1049), it's missing from the guide and I can't tune into that channel. I'm also missing certain Music Choice-channels, such as (my favorite) Party Favorites (922). It just jumps over them. Very strange, I'd say. Any ideas about what might be going on?6.2KViews0likes6CommentsHD Channels Problem
My HD channels -- primarily the 800 movie channels -- are apparently having weak signal problems. About 3-5 times per hour the display will flicker and will briefly flash a message box with an 800 number to call for technical problems. The box doesn't stay on screen long enough to read completely. I've subscribed to the Advanced Plus package with whole home DVR since it was offered and have only had this problem for the past couple of weeks. There have been no changes in equipment, wiring, etc.5.1KViews0likes3CommentsHD programming runs at 1080i
I noticed that the output from the box is at 1080i I checked the settings for a 1080p but could not find one. Does cox have any plans to update its customers to the better quality 1080p? When I watch programming from the Cox receiver it is not as clear as when I run programming out of my PC or console.Solved4.5KViews0likes4CommentsSeveral HD channels do not function
Hello, Several of my HD channels do not function. They will either have sputtering audio and pixelated pictures, or say "Temporarily Off Air." The Standard definition channels work fine. I've tried restarting the box, reconnecting the cable cord, to no avail. My cord is not connected to the receiver through a splitter. It's the only TV we use in the house. Any suggestions? It makes football watching on the HD channels impossible, for example.4.5KViews0likes8CommentsOccasional 1s sound drops, video blip
I mainly just watch a few things I record thru the week on the weekends, but to be clear; I see the following phenomenon on live TV as well. Sometimes (not all the time) on some channels, I will have periods of the sound dropping out for about a second, usually along with a narrow strip of the picture about 1/3 down from the top also distorting during the sound drop out. When it happens, the frequency of occurrences can be as close as 3-4 minutes or so. Sometimes it's so annoying, I just give up watching (along with wondering how stupid I am to be paying $xxx a month for this 'privilege'). I only have one TV hooked up to my Motorola DCT6412/2000 (no HDMI on the box; component) that I've had since ~2007 via my receiver. This phenomena has been happening off and on for about a year, maybe two. This *never* happens when watching via my Roku nor Chromecast using the same setup; just the Moto. The main channels affected (or the only ones I really watch) are the area NBC & Fox stations, along with BBC America, all in HD. As I write this, I realized I've never checked the SD channel versions. Then again, mostly I'm watching recordings but if I do have to switch to SD just to avoid this issue, what indeed *am* I paying for?3.8KViews0likes3Comments
