Terrible Latency/Ping, WinMTR results.
So, I have dealt with this for more than a year now, and even after moving out, I somehow managed to find a place with worst internet connection. Guy over the phone as I am sure technician will ignore my personal WinMTR results, and just use their ping test that will show it's all perfect, then I will be charged $100 for the technician showing up to tell me what the support agent told me. Anywho, below are my terrible test results when playing Overwatch. I haven't played a game, or streamed a show in two months because I either rubber band, jitter, or disconnect, or my quality changes every two seconds on my chromecast. I am not sure what to do. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.0.1 - 0 | 346 | 346 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 1 | | 10.134.92.1 - 2 | 324 | 318 | 6 | 39 | 212 | 18 | | 100.120.108.54 - 2 | 324 | 318 | 9 | 40 | 218 | 19 | | 100.120.108.0 - 2 | 324 | 318 | 8 | 41 | 218 | 19 | | langbprj01-ae1.rd.la.cox.net - 3 | 320 | 313 | 11 | 44 | 200 | 22 | | 68.105.30.130 - 2 | 324 | 318 | 12 | 46 | 207 | 23 | | ae1-br01-eqla1.as57976.net - 2 | 324 | 318 | 17 | 199 | 895 | 118 | | 137.221.68.77 - 2 | 324 | 318 | 11 | 44 | 213 | 23 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 70 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider589Views0likes0CommentsMassive gaming ping fluctuation - I’ve tested everything
When connecting to game servers a few states away, my ping is higher than colleagues who connect to the same server from Paris France. I have friends who connect from other ISPs in LA about an hour south of me and get 70 ping when I get 140. I’m not losing packets locally on my setup. I’ve ran ping traces to the servers and find that I get massive jitters in latency across most of my hops. I’ve talked to multiple representatives, one told me to get a better modem, which I did, and the other said it’s likely due to everyone being at home with my town’s stay at home orders and nothing can be done and tried to upsell me on a streaming box (???). I’m down $150 from trying to fix this and have no results. I get that things are under high load right now but people with other ISPs aren’t having this issue, so if this is truly due to my local switch being overloaded, can I at least get some info regarding my options, because as it is, I’m paying for a service and I’m not able use it in a completely reasonable way. I’m on Ethernet by the way, and somehow get a better connection off of LTE hotspot which should not be the case. I kind of feel like I’ve exhausted my options at this point, and whenever I call, I’m walked through the same trivial troubleshooting steps that any technical person would know to try before reaching out, and it’s getting quite tiring.2.5KViews0likes9CommentsInternet Interruption Issues (Pauses and Rubberbanding)
I use my internet to play online games constantly, and an issue has been evident from when I first got Cox High Speed 100 mbps internet until now. Doing anything other than playing online video games is fine on this internet, exceptional actually, but when playing games it is evident that every ten seconds to a minute there is a pause. Everything freezes for about one to three seconds, it sounds like it doesn't mean much but in competitive games it completely ruins the flow and can (and often does) lead to my in-game death. I love playing games, and it's how I spend lots of my free time, please respond.1.6KViews0likes1Comment86% packet loss!
I'm having trouble with packet loss on my home internet. I discovered it on my Xbox One when I tried to connect to Xbox Live this morning. My Xbox is hardwired directly into my modem. Running the network diagnostic on my xbox, I received the following: Download Speed 16.35 Mbps Upload Speed 2.20 Mbps Packet Loss 86% MTU 1480 Latency 118ms Of those, only the Packet Loss is super concerning, though the latency is a little high probably because of the packet loss.2.5KViews0likes2Comments
