security and router firmware updates
In light of the latest ubiquity of security breaches, I have to ask - does Cox routinely send out firmware upgrades when available [i.e. to Cox supplied Cable Modem/Routers such as the Cisco DPQ3925], or is that considered a customer responsibility? Not that we are, necessarily, a prime target, sill, I would feel more secure if our main "firewall" against malicious attacks/hacks to our local network was as robust as possible.6.1KViews0likes3CommentsMotorola/Arris Cable Modem Firmware Update
Hi, I have been having some wifi connection issues with the 2.4GHz frequency. It suddenly stops working while the 5 GHz continues working. I looked at the router setup page and found that the current firmware (SBG6X82-8.4.0.0-GA-05-809-NOSH) is way too old. I couldn't find any way to update it from the setup page, so, I looked on the Arris website and found that Cox is responsible for pushing updates. See http://arris.force.com/consumers/articles/Drivers_and_Firmware/Upgrading-Firmware-on-Cable-Modems-Gateways. Can you push out the latest firmware? Be happy to share any account info you might need. Looks like this is something you have done before. Hello, I upgraded to GIGABLAST and the Panoramic Modem/Router wasn't pulling speeds above 200-250mbps. Oftentimes it was within 20-45mbps range both wireless and wired with a CAT 6 cable. I was told to try getting my own modem/router and purchased a Cox certified cable modem a Netgear C7800 Nighthawk modem/router. The C7800 came with Firmware version V3.01.40 already installed. Cox recommends using version 01.38, but there is no way to access old or new firmware on the Netgear site as it says "Firmware upgrades are pushed down by your ISP." I had a tech support agent try to force a firmware downgrade, but it failed. The next day I was told by Cox & Netgear that is was the other's issue until I go them on the phone together and the Cox agent said he would resolve it. He told me having 01.40 wouldn't be an issue. -Will this be an issue going forward having 01.40 vs 01.38? Slow speed, packet loss, losing connection, etc. -How will I receive updates in the future? I also had a 2nd tech come to the house and inform me that there was low level loss coming from the Node which is overloaded and it would be addressed in 24-48 hours. Is the NODE the issue? I.E. packet loss, slow speeds, losing connection etc. Or is the firmware the issue or both? Thanks in advance!4.1KViews0likes9Commentsdpc 3010 firmware
I have a dpc 3010 modem, I just went through the issue of the amber lights on ds/us/online/link The problem was solved by rebooting the modem, with the router disconnected. Am wondering if I need to update the firmware. I know there is a cox rep on here that can do it. I am not sure what firmware my modem is on, but would appreciate if the firmware could be updated to latest stable or if I can be told how to do it myself4.1KViews0likes5CommentsNetgear CM-1000 Reboots at Same Time Every Night / Suspect Recent Firmware Update.
A week ago, I and at least two other Cox subscribers with Netgear CM-1000 modems began experiencing NIGHTLY modem resets -- multiple times per night, all at exactly the same time. Two of us are in San Diego, one in AZ. But the real issues appears to be the model of modem AND a recent (I suspect within the last 6-7 days) problematic firmware update. I have a hardcopy modem status page printed on 8/5/19 indicating firmware rev v3.01.04. CURRENT firmware rev is v5.01.04. WHEN was this revision pushed out?3.4KViews0likes1Commentfirmware upgrade for my DPC3825 WiFi Modem

I recently purchased a Netgear C6300 modem. I'm very happy with it. One of the reasons was that the device supports Linux/UNIX file systems on its USB port. Unfortunately, I discovered that it requires firmware version 1.02.21 (the latest as far as I'm aware). For a while, the device supports Linux file systems as indicated in the docs. But then it all of a sudden stopped being able to read them. Exchanging the modem for another new one at BestBuy yielded the same result. This time though, I realized the device ships with firmware version 1.02.21. However, as inane as it sounds, it seems that Cox is reprogramming the modem with an earlier version, specifically 1.02.20. After that, my Ext2/Ext3/XFS flash drives stop being read. I really would like this feature. (I saw another person here in the forum ask about 1.02.21 last Nov.) Is there 1.02.21 in the pipeline? Is there anything else I can do besides sit tight?2.9KViews1like3CommentsNetgear C6300BD constant reboot
I have done so much research on the net trying to track down the cause of this issue. It was happening with multiple modems...the most recent of which is the Netgear C6300BD, which is what I have and the only one that they would give me that could handle AC protocol adapters.. they said. Still, I get dropped multiple times an hour when my cable modem reboots itself. I have had NUMEROUS technicians out to my house to fix this... and one guy fixed things for awhile, but now it's starting again. He said it had something to do with another guy down the street and that his line was piggybacking off of mine... not as in he was stealing it.. but that there was a problem with the lines and that a new line would have to be put in. Does this make sense to anyone? This is what my logs look like and as a work from home web developer, the CONSTANT dropping not only makes doing my job impossible...and it happens like every 5 minutes it seems.. is putting my job in jeopardy. I am in conference calls with shared screen meetings and will get dropped 3 times in the same meeting. This is a big fat no go. It's been way to long that Cox has been sitting on this firmware update and not doing anything about it for this modem. There are features we are no longer able to utilize because cox refuses to update this firmware. Last post stated that it would be brought to the attention of the cox engineers and since that post, we have heard nothing. Please see these other posts that have never been resolved: http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/p/10160/40336.aspx?Redirected=true http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/11268.aspx @ChrisL ??2.3KViews0likes2CommentsNetgear CM1200 Firmware Version
Just curious, but what is the firmware that Cox is running for the Netgear CM1200?? I live in Los Angeles, CA. I wonder if this firmware fixed the Link Aggregation Issue that Netgear resolved recently with firmware updates. Does the latest version of CM1200 firmware resolve the issue?? If you Link Aggregate, I think you can get speeds above 1 Gb/s, but only if you are on the Gigablast Plan. Sorry for the plethora of questions but I wanted to know before I invested some time into it.1.4KViews0likes0Comments
