Recent blockage of emails from banks
Hello, I have reason to believe that several emails I regularly receive from Bank of America and Capital One must be blocked somehow. I have not had any problems up until about mid-December, and then, emails I should be receiving have not been coming through. I have checked on webmail, and I have checked my spam settings (which I haven't changed recently anyway). Neither of these sites are on any of my blocked lists - and I can't find anything in the spam folder either. I have checked with both B of A and Capital One, and they have my correct email on file. I do use a VPN, although I've never had any trouble before. However, I also tried turning off the VPN to receive emails, and I'm not getting any from those senders. Can someone give me some pointers as to what to check for and where I can find it? Thanks in advance! Steve P.S. I was initially unable to send this message since I tried to verify my email using my Cox email address. That email was never received, so I switched it to my Gmail address and it worked. So maybe if someone at Cox would be so kind as to do some checking under the hood and find out what happened to the email Cox should have sent me for verification to this forum, that might give a clue as to what's going on. Awaiting your response. Thanks again!145Views0likes7CommentsHow I am dealing with spam
for reasons I am not quite sure I have started getting inundated with spam starting a couple years ago. prior to that I rarely got any. whatever the reason I have been trying to use cox's horrible spam filtering. currently this is my strategy: create a "white list" filter labeled "ignore spam filters" this is a list of from addresses/email domains with the action of keep and do not process subsequent rules. create filters for the from field, and other fields that contain words that I am certain no one I know, and no company I know will use, and/or contain words and phrases/misspellings mangled fonts etc that I am certain no one I know uses. this rule is set to REJECT with reason: "553: account doesn't exist" 553 is an actual error code for a mailbox that does not exist. my hope is spam and phishing software may receive this error and remove my email address. either way I won't get the email. create a filter for all other words and phrases that goes to a folder I created that is not the spam folder to see what filters are working, and what is being filtered by cox, also to catch any false positives to add to the white list.546Views1like13CommentsBuffering
Since about a week ago, around July 12th, the show that I've been watching for over two years has been buffering. There is a live chat and no one else is experiencing it. It seems like I have had problems since the "new" look you have in the email. I also haven't been receiving all of my emails. I called up Cox and they said many servers have been updated and were still being worked on. I am not happy since the quality of cox has gone down and my bill went up $9. This is unfair and not good business practices.1.1KViews0likes1CommentToo Tight Anti Spam Email SENDING Restrictions
