Internet Connection Dropped - Netgear Router Settings
Is there a certain setting that needs to be enable/disabled for the Netgear Routers? I have run the setup feature using the Netgear Genie still losing the internet connection. Moved to the current house in November, used the same cox provided Netgear Router from previous address that worked great. Router at the home began to drop internet connection. Wireless devices are still connected to the router as well as hard wire computer, no internet connection. Have to reboot the router. Upgraded to a new Netgear Router. Same problem is still happening. I have to reset the router through the Netgear Genie. Cox support says the internet connection has not been lost must be the router. Make me sign up for the Networking support just to talk to a networking specialist and she offered nothing. Anyone have this same problem with the Netgear Routers?54KViews0likes24CommentsSlow internet speeds with Preferred level service
I started to notice it being really slow during the day and only slightly better at night. Internet speed has never really been a problem no matter what time of day in my area. Since I noticed the slowdown the last couple of weeks I started running speed tests on the cox internet tools site at various times through the day to see if there was a difference day vs night. This morning between 9 am and 10 am i was getting download speeds of less than 1 mbps. I ran more tests throughout the day and typically get about 1-3 mbps. At midnight tonight i got three tests in a row where i did get 12 mbps but the next 10 tests i am back to 3 mbps. This is not even close to what i should be getting with the preferred service I believe. I have called twice and the problem has not been resolved. I have run the tests with and without my router and still the same results. If it helps I have the Arris box for my home phone and internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.15KViews0likes12CommentsCox Internet speeds increasing?
I got an e-mail this morning from Cox stating that my internet speeds would be increasing "up to 100mbps". I understand that the 100mbps is probably an "ultimate" package, but I just wanted to say thank you and let Cox know that we are appreciative of the speed upgrades across the network. A representative on the phone told me that my service was going to be upgraded from 3mbps to 5mbps due to the upgrade. Glad to see that Cox is keeping their system in a position to offer top tier services. Would it be possible to find out a little more info regarding the change and why it's happening? (i.e., is there new fiber in OKC that is allowing this, or is it a simple update to the pricing schedule?) Either way, thank you!Solved14KViews0likes13CommentsResolving Host and Slow Speed
I have the preferred internet service, but have been having really bad internet lately and today has been the worst. 1st. When browsing, I regularly have a slow response with "Resolving Host" showing on the bottom status bar. After 10 seconds or so, the browser finally loads my webpage. This isn't a browser problem as I have never had this happen on any other internet connection, seriously. Also, I've already cleared my cache and whatnot so please don't ask me to do that. 2nd. Today's internet speeds have been dismal. In fact at one point I could have done better on dial up. This is not what I pay for, and it is extremely disappointing and frustrating. I just ran a speed check using the Cox tool and this is what I got... Download 0.97 Mbps Upload 3.67 Mbps Ping 303ms How in the world is my ping 303ms to the Cox servers? That silly. Any help you can possibly give me?10KViews0likes8CommentsTransfer account
I am moving to Texas where I don't plan on having Cox. I want to transfer the account I have in my name to my roommate (we share it anyway), however, I don't have a phone. How can I get this done? Or shall I just cancel the account and let him start a new one? I don't want him to have to pay that start-up cost when it's already working.10KViews0likes3CommentsPacket Loss and Latency Spikes
This is not the first time this is happened (it happens periodically), but I am having issues with packet loss and disconnects between my modem and the ISP (hop 2). They are intermittent and very annoying. I pay $75 a month for fast internet, and I am the only person who uses it, yet I have constant problems. I had these issues with the old Cox-issed Cisco modem and my current Surfboard SB6183. Same issues with three different routers as well (Apple AirPort Extreme, Netgear Nighthawk X6, Linksys WRT1900AC). It has to be on Cox's end, but I get zero help when I call in and talk to support. They always ask me stupid questions (have you reset the modem, have you checked your router, have you tried connecting directly to the modem via ethernet, etc.) and say everything looks fine on their end. I had a tech out last month and he pulled a filter/splitter off and replaced it and said things were fixed. I was at work when he came and my housemate said that he was here for about 10 minutes. Below is a screenshot of Pingplotter, the status page of my modem, and the event log of my modem. http://i.imgur.com/1Gnp1a5.png Startup Procedure Procedure Status Comment Acquire Downstream Channel Locked Connectivity State OK Operational Boot State OK Operational Configuration File OK Security Enabled BPI+ DOCSIS Network Access Enabled Allowed Downstream Bonded Channels Channel Lock Status Modulation Channel ID Frequency Power SNR Corrected Uncorrectables 1 Locked QAM256 73 813000000 Hz 8.7 dBmV 40.2 dB 9 65 2 Locked QAM256 74 819000000 Hz 9.1 dBmV 40.3 dB 23 48 3 Locked QAM256 75 825000000 Hz 8.9 dBmV 40.3 dB 17 56 4 Locked QAM256 76 831000000 Hz 9.1 dBmV 40.2 dB 43 133 5 Locked QAM256 77 837000000 Hz 9.4 dBmV 40.3 dB 15 84 6 Locked QAM256 78 843000000 Hz 9.8 dBmV 40.1 dB 11 67 7 Locked QAM256 79 849000000 Hz 9.7 dBmV 40.5 dB 13 60 8 Locked QAM256 80 855000000 Hz 9.6 dBmV 40.3 dB 18 69 9 Locked QAM256 89 909000000 Hz 8.8 dBmV 40.3 dB 15 55 10 Locked QAM256 90 915000000 Hz 8.7 dBmV 40.3 dB 38 61 11 Locked QAM256 91 921000000 Hz 8.7 dBmV 40.3 dB 24 98 12 Locked QAM256 92 927000000 Hz 9.2 dBmV 40.5 dB 38 31 13 Locked QAM256 93 933000000 Hz 8.8 dBmV 40.3 dB 22 81 14 Locked QAM256 94 939000000 Hz 8.2 dBmV 40.1 dB 49 107 15 Locked QAM256 95 945000000 Hz 7.7 dBmV 39.9 dB 18 57 16 Locked QAM256 96 951000000 Hz 8.2 dBmV 40.0 dB 12 69 Upstream Bonded Channels Channel Lock Status US Channel Type Channel ID Symbol Rate Frequency Power 1 Locked ATDMA 4 5120 Ksym/sec 37300000 Hz 36.9 dBmV 2 Locked ATDMA 1 2560 Ksym/sec 19400000 Hz 34.8 dBmV 3 Locked ATDMA 2 5120 Ksym/sec 24300000 Hz 35.3 dBmV 4 Locked ATDMA 3 5120 Ksym/sec 30800000 Hz 36.0 dBmV Current System Time: Mon Jan 02 20:18:17 2017 Time Priority Description Mon Jan 02 20:02:24 2017 Warning (5) Dynamic Range Window violation Mon Jan 02 19:45:13 2017 Critical (3) Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=74:ea:e8:f0:7b:4d;CMTS-MAC=00:21:a0:fb:6a:74;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; For the passed 4 year's my family has suffered from crazy spikes, packet loss, and slow internet provided by cox internet. I have the 30DL/5UL plan, with reg/ cable TV. Issue with it is every few months I get huge packet loss, random disconnects, and slow speeds. this period last for a month or so of consistent calling of Tech support from Cox. Every time I call the support, I get the turn around. It's this, Its that, or try this or try that. I HAVE DONE IT ALL. I do all of it before I call and waste my time. With that being said, I will only go over this event for the sake of dignity to the cox support. 2 weeks ago, I started getting bad packet loss and Jitters. I ran my speeds on cox speed checker, Pingtest . net and speedtest . net. It is clear I was having issues since I was getting web hang ups and everything. I call tech support for them to only send out 2 techs. These techs plugged in their unit and that was it. Said they didnt see anything that is causing it. So few days after they left it stopped. Till about 2 days ago. I started noticing my uploading speed was spiking so bad. I tested it and dub checked it and it was coming back with solid download speed, but the upload was less than half '1.5Mbs' of what I am suppose to get '5Mbs'. I call cox about the issue, and all I get is the reach around. Sent to a Tech 2 support guy to tell me the same thing "cant find anything wrong" "Try this Try that.. Still nothing. Still getting ** upload. here is a set of upload/download speeds done directly on cox internet speed.. Now keep in mind when you see them, I pay for 5Mbs upload speed. The Download speed is actually higher than what i typically get. http://tinypic.com/r/2dvpqon/5 I have a tech coming out again tomorrow.. So lets see where this leads. Question is, Does anyone els have this issue?8.4KViews0likes7CommentsInternet
I have noticed that my internet has been slower than normal lately, and when I log into my account online it has a message stating that my service is interrupted. I have reset my modem many times and called in for service, which they performed a reset but said that although it may say interrupted online, it definitely was working. I am wondering if there are any other steps that can be done to check my service?Solved6.7KViews0likes17CommentsCan't send e-mail using Outlook, Mail (OS10.11.6) or Mail (iOS)
Okay, please bear with me cause this post will be somewhat long. Problem in a nutshell: I haven't been able to send e-mails since June 1st, 2017. I've chatted online with two tech reps, and today I discussed the issue on the phone with a fellow named Ron. Here's some info from the second online chat: Dear Cox, I chatted with one of your tech reps yesterday regarding my inability to send e-mails. After a lot of back & forth re: making sure that I had the correct POP e-mail account settings, she eventually found out and then told me that Cox was in the process of updating their “e-mail platform,” and that I should try again in a few hours. Could you please update me re: the status of this; it’s a day later and I’m still unable to send e-mails. Here’s the background info re: my issue: I am currently not able to send outgoing mail, although I was able to send mail on May 30th. I’m using Outlook 2011 as my e-mail client. My OS is El Capitan 10.11.6. I’m able to receive messages. I believe I have the correct POP settings as specified on your website page “Cox Email Server Settings.” When attempting to send an e-mail I get the following error: fed1rmimpo209.cox.net cox connection refused from 68.6.118.7 It’s very strange that I was able to send e-mails up to May 30th, but not able to June 1st. Please advise and update; any assistance and new info would be greatly appreciated! After waiting a day with no feedback or resolution, I started another chat, opening dialog as follows: Hello, there’s been an ongoing problem with me not being able to send e-mails using Outlook 2011 on my Mac-Mini (El Capitan, 10.11.6). I’ve chatted with several people to date, and have confirmed that I have the correct POP settings for my Cox account. The last person I spoke with submitted a support ticket, and said I’d have a reply within 48 hours; the support ticket was issued on June 2nd and I have yet to hear from anyone, so I’m starting to get somewhat frustrated. I’d greatly appreciate if you could get me an update. The problem started on June 1st. I was able to send e-mails before that date without any problems. Please help! I was eventually told that the problem was with Cox's servers and that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. 48 hours later, I'm still not able to send e-mails. So today, I called Cox and had a long discussion with the aforementioned Ron. We did a lot of tests, tried different port settings, etc. and he came to the conclusion that the problem was with my Outlook application (which I was doubtful of, but heck, I'm no techie). I decided to test Ron's theory and did a test run using my Mac's Mail Application, which to date I hadn't used. Not surprisingly, I was unable to send e-mails using Mac Mail either! Again, I tried various outgoing server settings, all with the same negative results. Just to take it one step further, I attempted to set up the Mail program on my iPad, which to date I'd never used. This also failed, giving me the following message: "The SMTP server "smtp.cox.net" is not responding; etc, etc. While doing all these tests I also performed extra steps like taking Outlook and Mail offline after making account changes, deleting outbox messages and creating new ones for testing, etc. Which leads me to the conclusion that there is indeed something wrong on Cox's end, as I was originally told during my second online chat. I'm hoping someone on this forum can provide some insight, as I'm going a bit crazy not being able to send e-mails, and Cox support has been useless to date. I may have to start using Cox's Web Mail application to send e-mails (which works) but I'd really prefer to use my desktop's Outlook application! Any help and insights will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, David6.4KViews0likes10Comments
