keep my e-mail account if I cancel my e-mail account?
Needless to say I've had it with slow service and no service so looking into switching. I have a TON of stuff saved on my account and want to know, if I shut down my cox account for my internet can I still use my cox e-mail, or do I have to pay to keep it?16KViews0likes7CommentsZoom 5350 Wireless Issues
I've been having terrible wifi issues with the Zoom 5350 set up - IP Flood detection is off, channel set to auto (or I select a channel that doesn't have too much overlap, it works for a bit), and I reset every so often just to get it to work. Location is fine, only about 1,000 sq ft, works fine when I'm in the same room, but move on over to the next room drops low if not recognized at all. What ideal settings can I use? Should I add an external wifi router? Completely frustrated.5.3KViews0likes4CommentsUpgraded to Premier service but still getting preferred speeds
Hello and thank you for reading. I upgraded to Cox Premier from preferred yesterday 7/19. However, I am still getting preferred speeds. After the Premier upgrade I am receiving the same 25 Mbps down (using either my router, or direct from my PC). My modem is showing 4 bonded downstream and 2 bonded upstream. I have checked all wire connections, cables, and performed several speed tests on various sites, but my download speed cannot achieve greater than 25Mbps. I also emailed cox.help@cox.com about this and included a link referencing related threads in this forum. Any assistance solving this problem is greatly appreciated! The Cox tech showed me how to test my Cox internet speed at speedtest.net, and subsequently claimed that my 1.09Mps download speed was sufficient for video streaming. But, the Amazon.com customer service claims that clear video streaming on my desktop computer requires 1.5Mbps minimum internet speed. And, according to speedtest.net (verified by Cox customer service), my 1.09Mbps through Cox broadband is extremely slow compared to the rest of the USA in broadband speed. I've already invested a lot of time in phone calls with Cox, Amazon, and Netflix customer service reps. Has anyone else in Northwest Arkansas been experiencing less than 1.5Mbps with Cox broadband internet, and poor video streaming quality on your computers this month? I have the premier package for internet plan from cox down here in New Orleans. After Hurricane Issac I was surprised to find that my internet, t.v. (along with the neighborhood) remained intact after the power came back on. The problem started about a month ago, so well after the hurricane had long past and everything was restored to order. My internet between (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) in the afternoon is perfect. A constant 30 mb download and 3 mb upload. But for the rest of the time it is complete garbage, lucky to get a constant reading from (testmyspeed.net). Most of the time I get errors before the tests are even done, but its about 2 mb download and a 0.12 mb upload. WTF! I have a cox technician coming out tomorrow and I've already inspected my lines around the house to look for possible damage to the lines and everything seems in good condition. No bite marks, cuts, bends, kinks or apparent damage, I'm thinking this is a grid problem. Other things I've noticed around the neighborhood is down the street for the last couple of weeks I've seen Cox Technicians on several occasions but never asked what they were here for, could be T.V, problems for all I know, which I have had about 10 times in the last month my t.v. drop out and loose connection and I have to manually restart the cox box. I haven't had any problems with the modem suddenly resetting or internet going out for long periods of time, just this constant window of 20 or so hours of just horrible internet (not what I paid for most importantly). My Modem is a Cisco brand and fairly new installed by a cox technician 4 months ago, router is only 8 months old as well, both worked together fine. Although I have isolated the router to make sure if it was the problem. Things I've done. 1. Call cox to discuss the problem 2. Reset the modem (many times) 3. Restart my computer (many times) 4. Disconnected Router and just have the modem running a straight line into my computer from the modem 5. Inspect the cable lines 6. Looked for similar problems online 7. I also schedule the technician to come out during the time of day where my internet is terrible 8. Made sure no one was freeloading on my internet too (hehe) Anyone have any ideas on what is causing my internet to be horrible for most of the day? Any insight would be greatly appreciated2.8KViews0likes2CommentsIncredibly slow internet speeds on Preferred plan using Motorola Wireless Cable Modem
Hi, I was just hoping to find a way to increase my download and upload speeds. I just moved into an older neighborhood near ASU and I am not sure if the area is causing the slow speeds, or my new wireless cable modem, the Motorola SBG6580. I used the speed checker tool and it's been showing download speeds never above 1.5Mbps while I was expecting at least 20Mbps on the Preferred plan which advertises 25Mbps speeds. I am not sure what the issue may be, let me know if there is any more information needed to help find a solution! Thanks!2.8KViews0likes1Comment
