TV doesn't recognize cable box using HDMI connection
I have a Motorola - CMO6416 cable box with HD service and a plasma HDTV. The problem is when connected with HDMI my TV doesn't recognize it, so I've just been using RCA cables and going to AV. Now here's the kicker, it used to work a year or so ago and I don't even remember when exactly it started doing that, so I probably won't remember any changes I made if there are any questions like that. I've just never come around to figuring out the problem, plus my quality is ok using RCA's but I know I'm not getting full HD when on HD channels, especially good HD movies I can really notice the difference. But I know it's not the TV because when I use my Playstation 3 using HDMI my TV recognizes it and I can watch HD movies all day long. So I'm thinking something's up with the box, I've been having it for a couple years and maybe one of the updates might have messed with something.... unless the box is just plain out of date and I need a new one??... Our new Contour system keeps sending "Sorry, there is currently no TV signal detected for this channel..." message for random channels. Please note that our CLIENT box has no problem accessing these "No signal" channels when the message appears on the MAIN DVR box. A reboot sometimes helps, but not always. This Whole Home DVR system was installed a month ago. The full message appears below. Why is this happening? "Sorry, there is currently no TV signal detected for this channel. Every night the box in my bedroom displays 'EAS' which I assume means emergency alert system. When I turn the TV on, the image is black and no sound. Doesn't matter what channel is selected. I can cycle through the cox activity menu and that is about it. If I run a diagnostic all signals are receiving properly. I have power cycled the box already and still get the same issue. I recently had cox cable installed, I was ready surprised when I saw the cable boxes they installed. They were the ugliest boxes I have ever seen but I honestly could get past the ugly and very old look of the boxes. The problem is that they reboot all the time, some channels never work and channels I don't have appear on my channel list making it confusing to find out which channels I can look at. I have the Scientific Atlanta CSH824H. I've seen that many people have issues with these boxes, I was just wondering if cox does not have any other more updated box? When I log into my account above the model of my cable box appears another box image which is apparently the Cisco 8742HDC. Can Cox provide that box? So, I just received my new cable box (with Contour and so on), and I have the Advanced-package, I'd say. It's supposed to show all channels both regular and HD. Somehow I get CNN (channel 49), but no CNN HD (1049), it's missing from the guide and I can't tune into that channel. I'm also missing certain Music Choice-channels, such as (my favorite) Party Favorites (922). It just jumps over them. Very strange, I'd say. I am new to COX and was Direct TV before. I have 2 DVRs and 2 additional cable boxes. When I press the record button on the remote, sometimes I get the message if I want to record the whole series or just this show. But this option does not always come up and I can't record the entire series because it often won't give me the option. It is like the DVR doesn't know that the show is a series and won't give me the option to record all episodes. Does Cox throttle connections with Netflix? Over the last few days Netflix can't even go 5 minutes without slowing to a crawl, but other services like Hulu or Amazon Video are fine. Speed tests through the computer are all normal. I am having HUGE issues with my internet using my Linksys AE3000. My internal wireless adapter works on my laptop without any hangups or drops at all. My AE3000 when plugged in works for 5 minutes and freezes and has to be reset on both my desktop and laptop using newest drivers and old drives with doing fresh installs each time. I sent in 1 AE3000 to be replaced and the new one does the same thing. I even had it plugged into my laptop right next to the modem and still did it. Then when I unplugged it and turned on the laptops internal wireless the laptop worked fine. I have reformatted, released and refreshed my IP, direct connected cable modem to cable hardline with NO splitters, replaced AE3000 Unit, tested on two different computers which did not work, Internal laptop adapter works fine, uninstalled/deleted drivers/registrys and reinstalled fresh copys. Linksys support was worthless. To increase WiFi range I am thinking of moving my modum from one side of the room to the other. This would entail a much longer (20')cable that is run from the current outlet, along wall, to a new location. Is this worth doing? Will a longer cable reduce mps?
