Buzzing noise while Contour Record 6 (Cisco 9865HDC) DVR is on pause - Continued
In a previous post, it was mentioned that a buzzing sound was heard while pausing the DVR. I have that issue, but in addition, not only does my audio buzz while pausing the DVR, it also buzzes while pausing live TV. Also, I get this same buzz coming through the speakers of my TV. I just purchased a 70" Sony Bravia. In thinking the problem originated from the Cisco box, Cox came out 3 times and swapped out the same box. The last swap was with a new box, not a refurbished box. Problem did not get corrected. I returned my TV, and exchanged it for another, same model and brand. Same problem occurs. This only occurs using the HDMI cable from the Cisco to the TV. I've swapped out different HDMI cables, and also tried different HDMI inputs on my TV. Problem still exists. I also have a home theater system. If I use an optical audio cable from the TV to the AV receiver, the problem still occurs. However, if I connect an optical cable from the Cisco box directly to my AV receiver, the problem goes away. Most of the time, I only use the audio coming from my TV set, and, save the home theater for Bluray or football games. I'm thinking this is a software glitch with the Cisco, and hoping a firmware and/or software upgrade is going to cure this problem. Anybody else having this same issue? Any workaround?16KViews0likes16CommentsOut of sync issue
I've been having issues with an out of sync audio and video using HDMI. I currently am using the Cox Cisco HD box and that replaced a Scientific Atlanta box. I've had quite a few techs out here to find the issue. Here is what has been done: I replaced my TV with a new Visio E420-A0 The cable box has been replaced. The HDMI cable has been replaced twice. All fittings have been replaced. All cables have been checked for ingress. Issue started after an outage about 3 months ago. Audio falls behind video and as much as 2 to 3 seconds behind. The longer I watch a channel the longer the delay. I checked for firmware updates on the TV but it is a brand new set and no firmware updates are available. This happens primarily on ch 1047 and 1057. I don't get the issue on other channels. The last tech that came out replaced the HDMI cable with component cables. The issue hasn't returned using those cables but I'm not holding my breath. There has to be something that can be done. Most information I found talks about the video falling behind the audio but nothing for the other way around.12KViews0likes9CommentsFOX NEWS - Intermittent Audio - Sound goes in and out frequently
For the last three weeks and only on FOX NEWS, the sound disappears for a second or two and comes back. This happens off and on throughout the day every few seconds to once every five minutes or more. It's disgusting and only happens when we watch Fox News, no other channels have this problem. I've been told by Cox there is no such problem from their end of transmissions and I've had technicians out and they say there's no problems. Rebooting of convertor does not help. Who else is this happening to? I'm in Cox San Diego North.Solved8.2KViews1like10CommentsHDMI audio output : "expert mode"
Since I can't find any documentation on this what is expert mode under audio, hdmi audio output. The options are stereo, auto detec( Dolby digital 5.1), and expert mode, had a problem with not receiving audio on one channel only , and finally found this section and switched form auto detect to expert and sound for that one channel was now working. Sad when cox tech support only option and solution is to check SAP off, even though I told them from beginning it was off. under expert mode it says - " the best available Dolby sound will,be passed through to your audio system. " Whats the difference from auto detect And expert mode?7.9KViews0likes5CommentsBuzzing noise while Contour Record 6 (Cisco 9865HDC) DVR is on pause
I have an annoying problem. My DVR is set to output Dolby Digital 5.1. On live TV, I can pause and everything works fine. I'm getting good 5.1 audio to and from my receiver on both live and recorded shows. However, on recorded shows, when I pause, I get a loud buzzing noise from my speakers. This does not happen when the digital audio output is set to PCM. Only if it's set to Dolby Digital. I am connected via HDMI from the DVR to the receiver. I tried a different cable. I also tried removing the HDMI and using component cables and an SPDIF audio cable, but got the same annoying buzzing when on pause. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't see any posts on this, so maybe I just have a defective DVR? Thanks a lot for any ideas.Solved7.9KViews0likes13Commentslow volume
On Sat., July 21, my Cisco Whole Home DVR was reset remotely by a Cox technician to fix a problem with stations being on the wrong channels. After that reset, the volume on my TV is about half of what it was before the reset. Please help me for the fix for this. Thanks!6.2KViews0likes5CommentsAudio Problems & Certain channels have gray screens
We lose audio on a channel sometimes but if we go up or down one channel and come back to it the audio works again. Also, when navigating up or down around one channel in particular that I watch all the time (which now has the channel info appearing but the screen is gray and the audio doesn't work) the channels before and after it will gray out with no audio but will reappear when you go past it and back to it. What's with the "Press select to continue watching or channel may be temporarily unavailable" message? Thanks!5.9KViews0likes3CommentsPixelation Picture Freeze Since Mini Box Installed
Hi, I've got 4 new mini boxes installed and there seems to be a lot of pixelation and freeze ups of the picture now. The audio is glitchy too. Has anyone else experienced this? I've gone through all my connections (I found one loose...thought that was it but no...), tried moving the mini boxes around but have not been able to improve the performance at all. I also noticed that on 2 of the 4 boxes the guide shows no program data available. If I reboot them, the guide will come back, but it never lasts more than a day. Is there a way for the Cox Techs to see signal strength at each box since they are all network addressable? Seems like that must be the issue since I have 7 TV sets connected. I split the incoming cable into 2 home runs for first and second floor, then split those into 3 and 4 each. The last time the Tech was out, he installed an amp at the street side splitter where it first enters the house. I never had this issue before the mini boxes. Any help or information is appreciated! What is wrong with channel 746? All day today it has been blocked picture and skipping sound??? I have reset the cable box and have called Cox only to be on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes before hanging up. One of the few channels we watch on a consistant basis and I can't get any answers ..... not happy with Cox at the moment for the amount of money we pay for service. Is anyone else having trouble with the channel or is it just us?2.9KViews0likes2Comments
