Anyone know the max size of drive that the DAR1682 "panoramic modem" can handle for sharing? It seems to handle smaller devices like a 128GB but when I try to connect something large enough to handle my required storage for video sharing it doesn't recognize. 1st I was thinking it might be the 128gb stick was a USB3 but I ordered a 4tb USB disk and it also fails. And before someone asks yes I've tried small "disks" instead of SSD sticks and they work. Just trying to figure out the largest I can attach or if maybe I need a firmware update?2.3KViews0likes1CommentCertified Cable Modems
I am researching DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems that utilize eMTA (telephony) so I do not have to have a separate device for my Cox Telephone Service. Aside from the Cisco DPQ3212 cable modem, which is Cox certified, I am wondering if there are additional cable modems that Cox will allow to be used, or if other Cox customers are currently using for their Internet/Voice services at home. I have found the following other modems that are not on the Cox "certified cable modem" list, but are DOCSIS 3.0 and do provide eMTA / telephony function that may be used for the Cox Voice Service: Netgear C7100V Arris TG1672G (listed as a "Gateway." What's the difference between a cable modem and a gateway? The data is digital anyway, right? No need to demodulate it to an analog signal anymore). Can anyone confirm if there are additional cable modems or gateways that are not "officially" on the Cox Certified Cable Modem list but are using them without issues? Is anyone using the above modems in their home?4.5KViews0likes5Comments- 1.1KViews0likes1Comment
IPv6 Routing using Arris TG2472 modem (Cox Wireless modem) & Juniper SRX firewall
Hi All, I was about to ask if anyone had this working, but figured it out and thought I'd share as this would be gold information for a few with the need. I have a Juniper SRX240 setup behind the Arris TG2472 modem. The modem can do IPv6 and will pull an address using SLAAC. Any, the Arris modem is using a link-local as the gateway. It says the link-local is FE80::226:99FF:FE89:EBD9. On my juniper, I entered the command, 'set routing-options rib inet6.0 static route 0::/0 qualified-next-hop fe80::226:99ff:fe89:ebd9 interface ge-0/0/0.0'. This is the command required to enter a link-local as a next-hop (more or less gateway) for the firewall. I tried to ping google v6 dns (2001:4860:4860::8888) and it didn’t work. I had a client plugged into the Arris modem as well as it was successful, so I checked the IPv6 neighbors on the windows client and didn’t see fe80::226:99ff:fe89:ebd9, but I did see fe80::3e7a:8aff:fefb:3609 (check output below) and more specifically, it is also a router. I changed the Juniper cmd to 'set routing-options rib inet6.0 static route 0::/0 qualified-next-hop fe80::3e7a:8aff:fefb:3609 interface ge-0/0/0.0' and viola….IPv6 Magic! So, I don’t even see the link-local that the Arris modem says it sees, but whatever…likely a bug. This is now working. BTW, you get a /60, so I am testing using routed /64’s behind each other to see if that works. It should, but you never can tell with cheaper gear. Happy routing! C:\WINDOWS\system32>netsh interface ipv6 show neighbors Interface 6: External (Note, this is what I named my NIC, yours will likely be Local Area Connection 1). I got the modem provisioned a little while ago and it's only bonding 12 channels. I was told this area had at least 24 and the cox technician I spoke with said the issue was probably the modem and that they do have 24 channels in the area. I'm not buying it, all of my levels look good according to my research. I'm thinking either it was provisioned incorrectly or they do not actually have 24 channels available in this area and I've wasted my time and money. Has anyone else experienced the modem not getting 24 channels when they are actually available?
