Xbox One Streaming Contour
I use an Xbox One as my primary means of home entertainment and streaming. I recently downgraded my service to internet only in addition to a contour streaming service (so no TV box needed). However, the Contour App only seems available to download on a phone or tablet. While these are great options, it seems like Cox is missing it's primary mission which is to allow people to stream directly to their living room TV via gaming consoles or dedicated platforms like Apple TV or Roku. Does Cox have any plans to roll out an app that will allow customers to stream Contour to gaming devices in the near future? With so many other streaming options such as Sling or Hulu, this would be a powerful tool to retain loyal customers.17KViews0likes4CommentsCox Mini Box by Cisco, Model: DTA 250HD
I'm looking to find out the remote code for the Cisco DTA 250HD Mini Box. I'm trying to hook it up to my Xbox One to use their OneGuide system, but the automatic setup doesn't work, and I can't find the remote code anywhere. Is there any way that I could find out the remote code? Thanks2.6KViews0likes1CommentHow to setup Contour 2 with Xbox One Kinect
I'm posting this here to help others that find themselves, like me, unable to get any help from Cox support technicians and installation engineers. After upgrading to Contour 2 in my home (which is an improvement over the last Contour service for sure) I was disappointed to find that the installation person and support people had no clue how to enable Kinect integration with my beloved Xbox Ones (I have two in the home). In my installation, both Xbox Ones are in rooms with client Contour 2 boxes model number "pace pxd01ani" and remote XR11-RF. The out of the box setup uses RF for the remote to the STB and the Kinect only has an IR blaster for device control. I could find no way to change the remote and STB to IR - I know the remote supports IR in addition to RF as it is able to turn on my Samsung TV and Samsung Soundbar which are both IR only. The support person I chatted with for 2 hours or so tried but was unable to help. The installation guy at the time of setup said he had no idea how to make it work with Xbox One and that the lack of support was "an Xbox thing". After a bunch of looking and playing I learned that the Contour 2 boxes I have DO have an IR sensor on the top that is very hard to see and it does indeed receive IR codes from the Kinect. The Xbox One does not know about this particular box. But you can enter a code manually in the Xbox setup to make it work. The xbox did not know the pace pxd01ani model number. If you look at the bottom of your Contour 2 box, there are other model numbers that might help. I used the XiD-P code XID01 (I believe model XID03 also works) which found code "C1982". There is more than one code that can work for the basics I want, which are really just power on / off, change channels and pause/play. If you manually enter the C1982 code on the Xbox setup screen for your STB it works well enough. I can power the box on and off with the Kinect and I now have voice control on the box to change channels, pause and play live TV through my Xbox (as well as the Contour voice remote which I will never use now). This makes me much more happy - I love the voice control options on the Xbox. One note - the model of Contour box I have is not easy to find on the Cox page for identifying the STB. It is like a couple of them but none of the models are perfect matches. The closes one says there is an IR sensor on the front but I believe it is actually on the top front edge, looking like a recessed little glass spacer of which there are many. In some setups it might be easy to accidently block the sensor especially if it is behind the TV or in a box, in a horizontal position. The Kinect blaster might sometimes have trouble bouncing the signal. If after changing to a code you expect to work it is not working, try to move the STB into a position that makes it easier for the bounced signal to hit the sensor. Finally, I don't blame the installation engineer or the support person I worked with on chat for not knowing how to make this work. But I do blame Cox support and management for not giving them the resources and the training they need to help me. This should be a VERY common problem There are millions of Xboxes in the wild and millions of Contour 2 users on Cox and other providers. There is no way this is a new undiscovered problem. Their support people and installation people should know how to make their shiny new service work with the second most common modern game console in the world. This should be a clearly documented knowledge base on their site for the professional installers and supports engineers and it should be easy for us customers to find it when forced to look. Telling me it doesn't work sorry is not acceptable. I pay Cox a lot of money every month, and I expect better service than this. Hope this helps someone.13KViews0likes4CommentsCisco DTA 250HD (Cox Mini Box) remote codes
I have been a cox cable customer for many years now, I have been a cable subscriber and use my media center PC as a DVR. Now with the switch to all digital I have to use the recently issued Cisco brand Cox Mini Box (from what I understand this is a Cisco DTA 250HD). I have now switched to my XboxOne as my media center (since MS dropped support of Windows Media Center with Windows 10, however they will start allowing TV DRV with xboxone in the near future) so I thought all would be great again. However NO ONE seems to know what the remote codes are for this mini box??? I know others are having the same issue with Tivo and Harmony remotes. When can we expect to see these codes released? This is unacceptable to release a device that you can ONLY control with the provided remote. I will soon be dropping my cable subscription and cutting the cord if this is not resolved soon. For those with the same problem, but using the non cisco branded mini box I understand others have been able to get it to work using Make: Evolution Model: DMS2344UHDS Compatible Remote Code: C407923KViews0likes7Comments
