"Enter network password" windows repeatedly popping up on Outlook email
I've had 3 minimum long chats with tech support and they've changed passwords, fiddled around, but in a nutshell I am still plagued constantly by these "enter network password" pop up windows. All PWs are entered correctly. Send/receive test works fine, all email addresses send/receive okay --- and then they don't! I have a Dell PC, Windows 8.1, MS Office 2013, I use Outlook 2013 for email. (Don't use webmail, just my PC.) Tech support has been hopeless in resolving this and I am tearing my hair out. Impossible to work with these darned pop-ups. Some days worse than others but no real rhyme or reason. One tech tried to tell me it might be because my McAfee security setting was high (it's set on medium level). I said, "and that would explain 6 pop up windows in 20 seconds?" No answer. I'm beyond disappointed in Cox. Twice, the tech support sessions left things worse rather than better. Has anyone had and resolved this problem? Thanks for any advice.11KViews0likes6CommentsService Appointment Charge of $60
Hi, I recently moved to San Diego, and without much of a choice, installed Cox in our apartment. The signal was terrible, dying every couple hours, and many times turning the modem on and off didn't change anything. I decided to hire the next level of Internet speed, hoping to be considered a consumer 'a little higher' in the food chain, and guess what? It didn't change. I called COX to ask them to fix it, after all, I hired a working internet service. They said someone was coming, and indeed, a technician came, said the signal was low, and put up a device to improve the dB (not a neat job, I had to rearrange the cables properly). A few days went by, and the problems continued. I started to learn to live with the fact that I needed to reset the modem and router every couple hours, which is certainly not what I have experience in both Denver and Chicago with Comcast. Parallel to that, I signed a VPN service, that helped the connection incredibly, but I can't explain why. I just received the Dec 10 billhere (Due Dec 30)and realized we got charged for $60 for the Service Appointment. My question is: FOR WHAT REASON? It is certainly shameful for a company to charge an extra that is almost a couple months of service for basically trying to fix the exact service it is not delivering. (Besides that, we have been having problems about the automatic payment, but will try to set it up one more time.) I would certainly like for this service fee to be cancelled before the Due date. Thank you. - Arthur7.4KViews0likes3CommentsDoubled Speed just does not cut it...
Hello Cox, I was in Europe when the double your speed program was announced and I was looking forward to the enhanced speed I will be getting upon my return. Its been a month now and I have been on the phone and chatted with the hepdesk dozen times about not getting the 50mbps I am currently paying for. Yes, I got 109mbps Friday morning at 6 am but most times during the day I barely touch 40 mbps. It is Sunday, 10 am in Phoenix, AZ and my speedtest returned an inferior result of 36 mbps download when actually I am paying for 50. Why are you guys advertising Doubled Speeds if your network can't handle what people are paying for? All the helpdesk does is reset my modem from a remote location which doesn't fix squat... The problem is the high volume of subscribers on an inferior network... DOCSIS 3 modem is just fine and doing it's best to serve me well. It was connected without a router when I performed the test so NO, the router did not play any fault at all. Appreciate your time, but maybe it's time COX step up and apologize to the masses. Sincerely, Matyoka Phoenix, Arizona7.1KViews0likes13CommentsInternet drops intermittently - Hampton Roads
Hey Guys, Just looking for some help and saw some good responses after trolling through the site today. I have been plagued by intermittent disconnections persistently for almost two years at this new house in Williamsburg, VA. I have replaced my Motorola SB 5101 with the new SB 6141 and still have the same problem. I have replaced an Apple Time Capsule with the Asus RT-AC68U router and still have the same problem. I called COX tech support and they couldn't seen any problem so they sent out a tech. He found some old connectors and inappropriate grounding and fixed all of that. He tested the line (which is a direct RG-6 coax connection to the box on the side of this house with new connectors and no splitters) and we were getting plenty of signal strength. Unfortunately, the problem recurred. Sometimes it is more than once per day, other times we go days without a drop. Every time though, resetting the modem fixes the problem. This morning it happened, no wi-fi internet, no hard-wired internet. I found this log in my modem this afternoon: So, any help I can get, I will take. Should I replace the RG-6 with quad shielded cable? Should I go for a Cisco router that may be better supported by Cox. I bought the SB6141 outright, but may be able to return it. Thanks guys,4.9KViews0likes9CommentsChronic Random Disconnection
I've been a Cox internet customer for about two months now and, thus far, it has not been a happy experience. Since the first week of service, I've experienced random disconnects at all hours, anywhere between 2-6+ times a day. It doesn't matter how many people are using the connection or what time of day it is, the Netgear gateway I bought from Cox loses the connection and resets, seemingly at random. At first I thought I had a bad gateway but, no, it's normal behavior for this unit to restart itself to reset the lost connection. When it does happen, it seems to happen in clusters. The connection will be good for hours, then go down three times in ten minutes. I did have a Cox tech come out, and he said he replaced a bad splitter outside the apartment and removed a bit of old latex paint from inside the connection in the apartment. I did notice that my SNR dropped below 50, and the connection was rock solid for two hours after he left, when the modem reset itself again. That was a couple of weeks ago and I can, usually, surf the web without interruption, but hardly an Amazon movie or online game goes by without a modem reset. Here's the event log from my gateway which, for some reason, doesn't seem to record the many, many restarts I've experienced. But there are a few; the critical T-4 and T-3 time outs are representative. I'm trying to pay my bill tonight. I've tried Firefox 28.0, Chrome 33.0.1750.152, and Safari 7.0.3 (9537.75.14). All up to date, running on up to date Mavericks. Every time I get redirected to http://ww2.cox.com/ibill/home.cox, the screen is blank. Firebug shows that the HTML document has HEAD and BODY entities, but both are blank. I absolutely loathe ever having to deal with Cox, because your support people while usually polite are never competent, but now you've even broken your bill paying website. Apparently you really, really don't want your customers money. Aaaaarrrrrrrgh!4.5KViews0likes3CommentsRandom high peaks of latency/ping (Tucson Area)
During the past few months i have had a sudden peaks of ping/latency, the problem is that when i play game or videos online i have sudden "disconnects" forcing me to refresh the webpage or re-enter the game. i have called support a few times, in which they were able to minimize the problem but it is still present. MODEM =Cisco DPC3825 what i have done so far was to: -reset the modem (a lot of times) -Connected it via cable instead of wireless (did nothing) -Moved the modem closer to where the laptop is. -Changed the Wireless Standard Channels to those with Acceptable interference -Changed the Wireless security mode to WPA2-Personal (in my opinion this helped quite a bit) Everything else was done by the Support Service. After this, the problem was still occurring so i decided to test it with another laptop/device, and it appears the problem is withing the modem/service because all that devices that i tried had the same problem. here is the test i usually do to check how my ping is doing. the left one shows when i am not using any applications that are connected, and the right one its when i have the browser or any games open.4.2KViews0likes5Comments[AZ] Connection Problems 6/14/2014
Been having problems for the last week or two where my connection will drop for about 5-10 seconds at a time every so often probably as often as at least once per hour. None of the lights on my modem turn off or anything like that but I will disconnect from Whatever Page I might be on and if I have anything like Mumble, World of Warcraft and online game open I will completely drop connection and then reconnect a few seconds later.4.1KViews0likes5Commentsrouter problems: resets and takes about an hour (or longer) to connect back to internet
