Premium Internet Slow and Constantly Cutting Out
I'm looking for a solution. I have called more times than I can recall at this point regarding this issue and yet I still have trouble with my Internet connection and speeds. I don't even bother complaining anymore since nothing is done except a reset, which only provides a temporary fix to get me off the line. It starts up again every time. Does anyone else in the Tustin, CA area experience this? Has anyone found solutions? I'm already paying for the higher speeds! Thank you!1.6KViews0likes1CommentLaptops over Wi-fi take long time to establish internet connection
This issue has been ongoing for as long as I've had my cox service, and I've even moved to a new location but it persists. It may be related to my Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 modem/router which I've had since day one. The issue: When I boot or wake a laptop that connects via wi-fi, it can take several minutes, sometimes 10-20, before internet access is functional. During this time my phone works fine via wi-fi and my PC on the Ethernet works fine. My phone has no delays establishing a connection, it just seems to affect laptops. Also, if I try refreshing the browser when internet access begins to return, some sites will only load partially (no images) and some websites will load fully while others will be inaccessible. This lasts for about a minute before everything finally is normal. I'd like to resolve this ASAP. We have people bringing laptops over this weekend for Fantasy Football drafting! I can check any settings or run tests after work today. Thanks!2.1KViews0likes2CommentsInternet Connection Issues due to recent McAfee update.
Attention Cox High Speed Internet Customers: A recent McAffee-issued software upgrade is causing some Cox customers to lose their internet connectivity. McAfee has since corrected the corrupt file, but you problems may persist. Refer to the following Cox Support Alert to correct the issue. I am really starting to get frustrated. I've had multiple disconnections...I would estimate between 30-40. The disconnect lasts for 30 seconds to a minute. I noticed it first with my ps3, then my iPad/iPhone. To make sure it wasn't my router, I connected my ps3 directly to my modem (one of those Motorola docsis 3 modems). That didn't help. Got a DNS error. I changed all of my DNS to those found on openDNS but to no avail. I'm thinking this may be a cox issue. Anyone else having this issue? P.s. I did all of the usual things like restarting the router, modem, etc.5.6KViews0likes7CommentsInternet drops for a 30sec to a minute or so and reconnects.
My internet connection has dropped several times a day for the past couple of weeks. I looked the modem logs and see some errors at the time this happens. I was wondering if any one had any suggestions. Below is one that I had yesterday in the evening. It's a Motorola Surfboard Model Name: SB6120 I mask the Mac Address and can repost with them if needed. I have a Cisco DPC3010 Modem and it has a USB and Ethernet port. I tried the usb port for my computer and it took a while for it to work, but it's fully functional now. I connected an ethernet cable to my Xbox that I got for my son and it won't allow it to access the internet. I disconnected the usb cable to the computer and reset the modem and got the Xbox to connect. I tried connected the usb afterwards and now the computer won't receive a connection. Is there something wrong with the modem or is it something else?2.8KViews0likes1Commentno access to internet tools

I need to add email addresses and I am getting frustrated. I feel they are providing half the service so i should only pay half the bill3.7KViews0likes3CommentsInternet speed/price changes
I have been with COX for a long time so know the history of my internet connection. At one time I paid approx $20 a month for 3 meg download which caused some problems. This was about a year ago so I called them about an upgrade to 5 meg download which was approx $30 a month. In fact they told me the 3 meg serivce was not even available anymore because 5 meg is recommended at a minimum to do most things. I even did speedtest.net before and after to verify the download speed. So I now I noticed they just increased my internet cost to $40 a month and guess what the download speed is now back to the low 3 meg which is by the way still not recommended for many applications which suggest a minimum of 5 meg which explains a few things. Of course now I can go to the next option for $55 a month which jumps all the way up to 18 meg download which is quite a jump. I would say it probably takes an effort on Cox's part to maintain the 3 meg. So I think you get the picture in that 5 meg is recommended but now their basic service is 3 meg again with nothing in between without going all the way to 18 meg. I am to the point of filing complaints with any agency I can find as well as the better business bureau. I am also shopping for other options.2.9KViews0likes1CommentUnable to connect to Cox High Speed Internet Network
I had Cox High Speed Internet installed Thursday, April 12. The installation went quickly and painlessly and in less than an hour I had internet access. I bought a ZOOM 5350 Cable Modem/Wireless Router which worked great right out of the box. Since last evening, Friday, April 13, I have been unable to access the Cox High Speed Internet network. I called tech support and went through the usual diagnostics (PC network configuration, wired/wireless connections, etc.) Tech Support can see the Cable Modem on the network and can remotely reboot the Cable Modem on the network. I can communicate with the Cable Modem (wired and wirelessly) without any difficulty through the PC, but am unable to pass or receive any data through the Cable Modem. The only thing I have been able to determine is that the Cable Modem's Dynamic IP Address is no longer dynamic. After approximately 20+ reboots and resets since the loss of the internet, the Cable Modem's IP Address is the same every time. When I reboot the Cable Modem without a cable connection, the IP Address is blank, so the old address is not being retained in the Cable Modem. Since the Dynamic IP Addresses are being furnished by the Cox network routers, it seems to me that this is a network problem. I restored my (substandard) AT&T DSL connection so I have internet access, but want to get my Cox internet problems straightened out so I can finish firing AT&T. Any ideas?5.7KViews0likes2CommentsRouting problem 68.4.11.96
So the other day I was wonder why I was getting drastically different pings to boxes physically located right next to each other. I ran a few traceroutes and a common theme came up, anything routing through ip68-4-11-96.oc.oc.cox.net pings 40ms higher than it should. Routing through ip68-4-11-132.oc.oc.cox.net or ip68-4-11-98.oc.oc.cox.net (which I assume are located close to ip68-4-11-96.oc.oc.cox.net) is fine. Is this a know problem that is being worked on? Thank you for your time. My location is Goleta.3.1KViews0likes2Comments
