Tivo Series 2 and Cox (Cisco) mini box
It appears that most forum's on this subject are locked? I have the same question, and can not find the answer. I have a Cox Mini box and a Tivo Series 2. I have hooked it up to the Tivo. I can live with the single channel record watch, but I can not get the Mini Box to slave to the Tivo. I am using a direct IR to the port on the back of the Mini Box.. I am using the Bleiden "Tivo IR to Cable/DTA Box Direct Connect Control Cable". This system reportedly works with the Evolution DTA that Comcast uses. 1) I understand that Cox has some Evolution Mini DTA's. Can I trade mine in for one of these? (The are controllable through the direct cable, no IR emitter or "blast" required. 2) Has anyone had any luck getting a Series 2 to work with the Cox Mini? If so, how? (There is no cable card slot in this Series.) 3) What can Cox do to help those of us who own our own DVR's that are caught up in this switch to digital, but were happy with what they used to have, prior to 5/17/16? Thank you in advance for any help Cox, or anyone else who has had success with the Cox Mini can post.8.1KViews0likes11CommentsTivo Roamio or Roamio Pro + Mini & what to expect
It has been a while since I had a HD DVR from Cox. About a year ago, I dropped all the HD programming & quit paying for Advanced TV. My bill dropped from about $200 a month to about $125 a month. It was great, and we haven't been concerned w/HD. But... Recently one of my 2 mainstay DVR's, a ReplayTV 5504, which I bought with a lifetime activation, back in 2004, has decided it no longer wants to tune channels. I can record on one, and play on the non-tuning one, but it is a pain, as both only have a single tuner. I'm wondering what to expect if I look a purchasing a Tivo Roamio/Roamio Pro + a Tivo Mini. I understand the lifetime cost will be around $650, on top of the cost of the devices. Keep in mind, my 2 ReplayTV's have lasted the better part of 10 years, with a lifetime activation cost of $350 each. I'd say I got my money's worth out of the ReplayTV's. So the cost of the Tivo's (low end) would be $200/$500 & $100/$150 or $950 - I'll probably use points for about $300 of it. Then I'll need to get a CableCARD for the Roamio at $2 or $3 a month from Cox+ the service upgrade. As far as channels go... I know I'll get all of the HD channels that the package includes, but what about the lower, non-HD, channels? The Roamio's aren't compatible with Analog cable, so will none of those be available? And if they aren't available as Analog, (I forget) but will there be a 1:1 for Digital to Analog channels? Kind of on the fence... Really wish Cox just provided a Digital signal for all of the channels (now that I don't have any Analog TVs). And I could really care less about the movie channels/most of the "Advanced" content. Any suggestions would be appreciated.4.7KViews0likes3CommentsNew digital cable box and loss of TV, Amp Needed?
I have a 4 way splitter in the attic. In the analog service days all the TV's worked. Since I put this new Digital Cable box in the back room, the cable box fails to boot / start. The error says to check the cable connections. If I remove the digital cable box and connect direct to the TV I get the screen that "Cox has gone digital...". So I know I am still getting signal to the TV, but not strong enough to allow the digital box to start. As I recall I do not have a "wiring" contract / service with Cox, so I would like to know if I could install a recommend Amp in line with this single set (or before the splitter) to get this one of the 4 sets working? Thanks...2KViews0likes4CommentsAll-Digital TV Limitations
Now that my local Cox provider is all-digital, I have installed miniboxes, and I am paying more per month to "rent" those boxes. Is there any chance I will ever get back the channels I used to watch as part of my service, or does the increased price now mean I only get lical HD and lits of CSPAN and home shopping? Please tell me I'm just using my box wrong, and I really still have Discovery, History, Food, Spike, Travel, USA, E!, Weather, CNN, MSNBC... You know... Cable channels.2KViews0likes3CommentsDigital TV boxes
I had heard that Cox, like Brighthouse on the East Coast, was going to make us buy little boxes for each TV. They did that to my son who lives in Florida. Now you have removed the reason I left Dish! Dish and DirectTV want extra money for each TV they connect to, Cox didn't used to but now there is no reason to maintain loyalty to Cox!1.6KViews0likes2Comments
