Buffering
Since about a week ago, around July 12th, the show that I've been watching for over two years has been buffering. There is a live chat and no one else is experiencing it. It seems like I have had problems since the "new" look you have in the email. I also haven't been receiving all of my emails. I called up Cox and they said many servers have been updated and were still being worked on. I am not happy since the quality of cox has gone down and my bill went up $9. This is unfair and not good business practices.1.1KViews0likes1CommentConnection and buffering issues since switching to Cox.
We recently switched from Att to Cox. Our smart TV worked fine before the switch. Now it barely loads Fandango and constantly stops to buffer. My son is also having difficulties connecting to Netflix on his Xbox. Both are WiFi. I made sure to get a modem on the approved list for the Premier level. The technician also connected a phone router, so I have two boxes.5.1KViews0likes2CommentsInternet speed problem
I'm having speed problems. I ordered thePremier Internet Service and was told I would have aminimum speed of 50Mb/s down stream. Testing on the Cox speed test since last night results in a 30Mb/s both wireless and wired. I called support last night, We reset the modem, did a few checks and nothing seemed to be an issue. I understand that 30 is still great, but I pay for 50... please explain. The 30Mb/s test is both on the Cox support speed test and speedtest.net. I have a Cisco EA-4500 and a Motorola Modem, router shows a 1Gb connection between the 2 and my BluRay is connected via Ethernet. I noticed the problem last night when I had a buffering problem on both Amazon and Netflix.5.7KViews0likes12CommentsSlow internet
Have the premier package but have been getting down into the29-30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps uprange lately. That is just a little over half the speed I am supposed to be getting and these numbers were taken late at night off of peak hours. It frequently will stall out when trying to view videos from various sources and have to wait for it to "buffer" for a while. My modem is a few years old, don't know if a new one would help or not, but seen some people getting help on here so I figured I would try. I was curious on whether or not my data limit would increase when I upgrade packages; currently I am only using preferred but was thinking of going to ultimate. I find myself often going over the limit with playing video games, having multiple devices and streaming/recording my gameplay. The deal seems it would benefit me but if I am still restricted on data as I am then I would just be paying even more.2.3KViews0likes0CommentsGame Lag
I am experiencing a lot of game lag when online. Every once in a while I have a few online games that are outstanding but only for a short while on days that don't come too often. I have everything hard wired for my Xbox 360 and I'm running an AC router for the speed. The router doesn't seem to be the problem since I have the same issue when wired directly to my modem. I have Cox premier internet residential service. When playing online it seems as if the info passing through the pipe hits the Cox server and takes a short time to be processed and passed on to me. I upgraded my service plan to the premier but haven't noticed any substantialimprovement in my gaming. When connected directly to my modem my speeds average over 100 down and over 30 up. Good speed but it makes no difference with the game lag. Without the lag I can dominate when playing online but for most days and for now there's too much lag to do much good. It's very frustrating to say the least. Any ideas would be appreciated.17KViews0likes10CommentsYouTube is unusable with the fastest connection. Is Cox responsible for this?
After having problems for weeks of not being able to stream YouTube videos, I decided to do some research. The link below shed the most light on the subject, and I would like to know if Cox is having peering agreement issues or any other type of business deal that would be making YouTube unusable for me. If any Cox customers are having trouble streaming YouTube, I suggest taking a look at this article: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/07/why-youtube-buffers-the-secret-deals-that-make-and-break-online-video/ I pay $100 a month and my most recent speedtest.net results were great, 92 Mb/s down, 23 Mb/s up, but I CANNOT stream a 60 second YouTube clip at 240p resolution without it buffering 10+ times and taking 15+ minutes to play a 1 minute video clip. While AT&T U-Verse may not offer the same speeds, if I can't watch YouTube it is a deal breaker for me. From this great article (linked above), it says AT&T is one of the best behaved ensuring problems like this don't happen. "Schaeffer said this is true of all the big players to varying degrees, namingComcast, Time Warner, CenturyLink, and AT&T. Out of those, he said that 'AT&Tis the best behaved of the bunch.'" I was a U-Verse customer for 4 years and never had problems streaming YouTube videos. This isabsolutelyunacceptable that it is not working, and I really hope that it isn't because Cox is trying to get payments for upgrading their equipment. Considering the fact that I'm waiting on a proposal for fiber service at my work from Cox, I find this very disappointing and I would love some answers, especially after taking a look at the article on this. I would like to know if Cox participates in Google's Peering or Caching programs. https://peering.google.com/about/17KViews0likes37Comments
