License Error 3338
I have been a cord cutter since before it had a name. After almost 10 years, I got sucked back in to the "cable web" with the $15/mo, 2 year, Contour Starter Package. I recently moved to an outlying area and antenna TV reception was spotty and I thought the starter package might solve this problem. Here are some comments after working with the Contour package for a couple of weeks. I give high marks to the browser-based Contour TV interface that runs on my laptop and desktop computers It is well designed, intuitive, and easy to use. But, I find that The Cable Company is still up to it's old tricks to sell more boxes and incrementally increase your bill. I can mirror(aka cast) to my 55" Vizio HDTV using my laptop Contour at WatchTV.cox.com. I can't with an iPhone or an iPad. Error code 3338, "...license violation..." After reading through several blogs and forums where lame cable company trolls suggest that "they are working on fixing this issue", I find mirroring is actually blocked by the Contour apps themselves. Even if you try using the browser on your iPad/iPhone, they can detect (using your MAC address) your device and vector you to a page that only allows the app to run. This is not a license issue. This is a strategy for The Cable Company to sell more and more cable boxes, installation services, additional rental fees and, provide you with an ever increasing monthly bill. The end game for me is that without mirroring from the iPhone/iPad, Contour is not going to do the job. After fooling around with the Contour package for a few weeks, I'll probably cut the cord (again) and go back to using various streaming services. May even put up a TV antenna to catch the network channels.4KViews0likes1CommentHow to watch Contour 2 on TV? Quantico episodes 1 & 2 are where? Is Contour too flawed?
I got a telemarketing call from Cox yesterday as a former cable subscriber for the Contour app. Then I find I can't get the app on Apple TV and I can't mirror it from my old iphone (I want to be able to use my newer iphone) and my old ipad can't play it either. So I'm watching tv on an itty bitty iphone 4S. What is the best way to watch Contour 2 where you can actually see the screen? Or have you found a better technology? I like Hulu, but thought this might fill in the gaps hulu doesn't fill. Like Quantico. But Quantico is missing episodes 1 and 2 of the season. Which doesn't make sense since it was able to load later episodes in the season. I see other shows missing episodes, too. Cox tried to say it wasn't their fault, it's the On Demand system. But it's their app. Advice? Thank you in advance! <33.5KViews0likes1CommentHistory Channel & Apple TV
I recently purchased an Apple TV and was excited to see that the History Channel was an available app. I went through the process of setting up the app, (choosing COX as my provider, entering the Apple TV code, etc.) and was successful at doing so. When I went to watch Vikings however, I was told that I needed to pay for it. Is this accurate? Why would I need to pay Apple to watch Vikings if I already confirmed I have that channel with COX?3.7KViews0likes1Commentapple tv and A&E
where is cox on the list of providers? I pay for these channel, yet I am unable to watch missed programs on my apple TV because cox is not listed so I can activate the channel....I assume it's a money thing since it has not been remedied yet even though I pay my $140/mo1.8KViews0likes1CommentLifetime activation on Apple TV
Why can't I activate Lifetime App on Apple tv, in the past I was able to activate other channel apps. Cox is not listed as a provider, but every other cable company seems to be listed. Could you add Cox to list of providers for this channel on apple tv? Thank you17KViews0likes16CommentsSubscribe to history channel and fx
I have an apple tv and roku and on neither am I able to sign in to either the history channel or fx. Nor can I sign in on my computer or iPad. It seems particularly with the history channel that cox is one of the very few tv services not accepted. We just got showtime after long delay. I have successfully added my Apple TV to my Cox Remote using the Aux button. It appears that all functions work with the exception of Power. Pressing AUX and then Power does NOT turn on the Apple TV. If I use the Apple remote to turn the Apple TV on I can then control all functions from my Cox Remote. Any suggestions as to how I might be able to get the power to my Apple TV to turn on from my Cox remote?Solved13KViews0likes6Comments
