I've received a couple of cards in the mail from COX suggesting I bring the card and the remote control for my cable to a COX store for a free replacement. Three simple steps, it said. Bring the remote to the store, present the card, take the new remote with me. Silly me, I decided Why not? This morning I went to the Cox store in Meriden, CT. All three customer service folks were helping others, so I went to the end of the line. Those ahead of me had more comlex transactions - one lady was talking to the same rep the whole while I was there - so it was a while before I was served. Only to be told that they didn't have any replacement remotes, they were back ordered. Maybe if they had a BIG SIGN about that I could have saved the time waiting (but not the travel time, over half an hour round trip). Or maybe if they PLANNED PROPERLY they wouldn't send out these notices WITHOUT HAVING THE REPLACEMENT REMOTES AT THE STORES. Re: Tired of unwatchable programs I agree that removing all the extra is a very good idea. It isn't as easy as it sounds though. When I was checking things out I was certain I had traced the active TV line back to a splitter near the entrance. I unhooked the other connection, only to find that the TV lost the signal. Putting things back took a moment. However the cable box seemed to take forever to recover. Five minutes easily, seemed more like ten. I guess I've got my work cut out for me. Re: Tired of unwatchable programs I've had this house for just a couple of years. All the cable wiring was in place already. Lots, and lots, and lots of wiring. The basement is 74 feet long. Cable comes in at one corner, runs the entire length, then returns along the opposite wall. Lots of extra cable in loops here and there. Splitters. I have one run to the cable box for the TV, and one to the internet gateway. You said I should check connections. There are so many cables not being used, so many that go in strange directions, so many splitters... well, so far I haven't been able to make much sense of it. The problem was happening yesterday evening, but I did mess with some connections. I will continue to keep an eye on the quality. Re: Tired of unwatchable programs Yes, that makes sense. Thanks! Re: Tired of unwatchable programs When dozens of stations are showing programs perfectly, how can a connection problem only occur on one at a time? They all share the same cable. Tired of unwatchable programs Tonight I was trying to watch Clerks on 247 NEXTHD. It was not watchable. When it did play it often was in blotchy mode. It even BACKED UP and repeated something from several second ago.. Last week I was trying to watch a World Cup repeat on FS2. You couldn't follow the ball, or the play, because it stopped every few seconds. I've had this service for a couple of years now and this is a new problem. Re: Four Outages - Sept 14, 17, 17, 21 Thanks, I will do that. The person on the Chat could not provide an email address. Four Outages - Sept 14, 17, 17, 21 My first year with COX internet went very well. However in the last week there have been repeated, significant service outages. Three times I have reported the outages and been told that service in my area is out and they already have technicians working on the outage. I want to know what the problem is. Three times in one week after a year without problems that I can recall means there is SOMETHING that is wrong. Faulty equipment, bad lines, who knows. I spent a while chatting with whoever they put on the chat system. They were sympathetic but they could not provide any information. The technicians know what has gone wrong this last week. I want them to tell me what sort of problem it is. Thanks! RH in CT Cheshire, CT to be exact.
