Cox told me modem is offline but they have no idea how I am still able to access the Internet and continue as normal. Pulled all cables, plugs etc. and changed them up. Modem resets each day since I turn it off at night. https://imgur.com/a/h8Wqi3V Las Vegas: Data usage meter? Down for me since Wed. 08/23. Anyone else? TIA. Gold Standard Instructions For Replacing Current Combo Modem/ Router With New NETGEAR - Nighthawk CAX30 AX2700 Wi-Fi 6 Cable Modem Router I want to make this as painless and foolproof as possible when the time comes. Unit is already Cox approved. I can go on the Cox website and I found two links. I get the feeling however they may be talking about modems that you get from Cox and this is not the case. I'll be purchasing the Nighthawk. https://www.cox.com/residential/support/activating-a-new-modem-or-gateway.html https://www.cox.com/residential/support/activating-your-new-internet-or-phone-modem.html Are there better DIY instructions on how to pull the plug on my current working modem and plug in the new one via Ethernet to get it working and registered with Cox? I guess I can always call up support and ask them for help but I wanted to see what you all had to say first. TIA. Re: You can't manually update your NETGEAR cable modem routers firmware not really they can number them whatever they want it might even just be built after the version you are on now Copy that. So I guess the bottom line is are you able to find out if this 6 year old combo modem router is due anytime soon for a firmware update or should I just forget about it and don't fix what's not broke. The main reason I am curious is if a firmware upgrade would provide enhancements to my Internet experience (speed perhaps) without enduring the cost of purchasing newer equipment. Thank you. Re: You can't manually update your NETGEAR cable modem routers firmware Prior to releasing new firmware for third-party equipment, Cox has to adequately test the features OK. Thanks. But by my calculations the firmware has not been upgraded in excess of 6 years. The firmware versions have gone fromV2.05.18 all the way up toCox (Approved Firmware)V3.01.09 according to the Netgear website: https://kb.netgear.com/000036375/What-s-the-latest-firmware-version-of-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-modem-router Kindly advise. Thank you. Re: You can't manually update your NETGEAR cable modem routers firmware They might be trying to say that they have approved us to use that version, but we do not currently offer that version on our cable plant Thanks again for the info. If in fact version 3.xxx has been approved that is quite a jump up from the old version. I think this modem/ router is at least a half dozen years old and obviously the firmware has never been flashed. Do you suppose you can elevate this question and or ask around why if a later version may have been approved we are still stuck on 6 year old firmware. Thank you. Re: You can't manually update your NETGEAR cable modem routers firmware Thanks for replying. Your right. Netgear Genie saysV2.05.18 not what I wroteV2.01.26. I have a Netgear Gateway C6300BD. It is a combo modem/ router that I bought from Cox. It is not a rental. Why does this page indicate that the latest Cox approved firmware isV3.01.09 for the C6300Cable Modem Router and not the old2.05.18 which I have and you indicate is the latest approved. So if this is a combo modem/ router that I own bottom line are you saying I am unable to update the firmware? Thank you. https://kb.netgear.com/000036375/What-s-the-latest-firmware-version-of-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-modem-router You can't manually update your NETGEAR cable modem routers firmware Why don't they want you doing this on your own. We can screw up software/ hardware in so many different ways what's the problem with allowing one more. My firmware is sitting at V2.01.26 while the Cox Cox (Approved Firmware) is at V3.01.09. It's such a PIA to screw around with them on the phone. C6300 – AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router
