ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Access to SMTP outgoing server while traveling WITHIN the US So it seems my home IP address fails a reverse DNS lookup which I assume means there's not a PTR record. I've contacted Frontier to see if they can do anything. Re: Access to SMTP outgoing server while traveling WITHIN the US FWIW my router can ping smtp.cox.net. Changing cox PW didn't help. Re: No Access to Cox IMAP Email Account Yes Re: No Access to Cox IMAP Email Account Didn't help in my case. Re: Access to SMTP outgoing server while traveling WITHIN the US Not really a solution nor simple. I need Outlook to work and I pay Cox for email. The fact that they block access to their SMTP server and are the only ISP on the planet to do so is simply ridiculous. Access to SMTP outgoing server while traveling WITHIN the US I have my home PC with me on an extended stay at my son's home in Texas while I undergo cancer treatment. I depend on Outlook for email access and DO NOT want to use the cox webmail site. I can send and receive emails via webmail, that's not the issue. My outlook can not connect to smtp.cox.net and is being blocked because I'm connected to my son's home ISP (Frontier) rather than my home network. This is very consistent with the problems well reported on this forum when traveling OUTSIDE the US but at last check, Texas was still part of the US. I've spent over 8 hours on the phone with TIer 1 and Tier 2 support, had 3 service tickets submitted (and then marked Resolved without action of any kind). As far as I can determine, Cox is the only ISP that blocks access to their outbound SMTP server when not on your home network. What's the point of having a laptop if you can't leave the house? Re: New iPhone email lag Power cycle doesn't help. Deleting and re-adding the account will work for 1-2 hours and then no new emails arrive or can be sent. 3rd party email apps from the IOS app store have no issues so perhaps this is an Apple issue. Re: Cox won't admit email problem There are no error messages or bounce back emails. The iOS native email app just stops working 1-2 hours after the account is added to the phone. It acts like it's sending email. It acts like it's checking email. But new messages that are clearly sitting in the inbox (as visible on the web client) don't download. This is ONLY in the native IOS 14+ email client. 3rd party email clients on the iPhone work fine with this very same cox.net account so I'm assuming the problem is on Apple's (or possibly Verizon's) side. I've opened support requests with them. Re: New iPhone email lag This problem continues with the native iPhone email client but not with 3rd party email apps so I suspect there is some handshake issue between Apple/Verizon/Cox that is causing this. Re: Cox won't admit email problem Same problem on iPhone with latest iOS 14.6 and correct email settings. Very frustrating.
