AT&T fiber is popping up after 2 years of laying cable in our area and they feel the competition and just increased prices so they have to do something to stay competitive. 50% faster speeds free???? I got a pop up on my phone from Cox and I never get pop ups from them but it stated that I can get 50% faster speeds with a modem reset. I clicked on the link but it was a dead end. I'm not at home so I can't check now but is this real? I can't find anything about this on the Cox site. Re: DRM Change in OC (Aug 2021)? You'd think but common sense doesn't seem to work with the DRM police. I know they tried......are still trying but I always knew cable cards were dead. Streaming is so prevalent it made cable cards old news. I own 2 of their Prime cable card tuners and 3 of their OTA tuners. But there's just not much I watch/record on the OTA channels. Re: DRM Change in OC (Aug 2021)? I wish they would just come clean and tell us they've not wanted to deal with cable cards for a long time. Most of the other cable companies slowly got rid of them as they could. I'm just surprised that it wasn't sooner. Companies like Silicondust will suffer as well as Cox unless they can finally see to it that DRM recording is working. I love Silicondust but many have patiently waited to no avail. Count me as another one going the route of streaming such as Youtube TV etc. in the next 2 weeks. Re: New DRM in Cox OC land? Yep, I'm good. Ran a scan and it's back to where it was. I think we should be told what happened. Certainly no one I spoke to had any idea at all and very, very little knowledge of cable cards. Re: New DRM in Cox OC land? I'm in the same boat. No one at Cox (4 different calls to techs in 2 days) knew anything about what I was talking about. The last tech (very patient and helpful) told me I knew more than he and other techs did about cable cards. So now I can only record locals and nothing else. I sure hope this isn't a money grab so that Cox is hoping we'll get more services and extenders because I already have phone, internet, Contour TV and 2 cable cards and I'm not buying anything else. In fact, I just may cut the chord completely and go to streaming. Finally, weeks ago I got an email discussing checking to see if my cable card devices support mpeg-4 (no longer have the email so I'm going on memory) but nothing was mentioned that I would lose recording capabilities. C'mon Cox, make this right. It's been working for many, many years and this is simply wrong! Re: They call this 'Loyalty'? LOL, no, I'll get justice, but I feel better getting it off my shoulders. They call this 'Loyalty'? About a week ago I got my bill and noticed my discounts had expired and my bill went up so I called Cox, asked the Loyalty dept. and the person I spoke to asked me to give him a few minutes to see what he could do. It took almost 12 minutes but he finally got back to me and told me he found a few discounts and could lower my bill about $20. I specifically asked if that meant there would be any changes to my account and services and he said "NO". Of course I accepted. Fast forward about a week later and there are now channels I no longer get without adding a subscription! Am I pissed! I contacted Cox via DM Tweet and messaged with a nice guy who told me that it appears there was a misunderstanding and they did remove packages to get me a discount. WTF? There was no misunderstanding at all! It was plain and clear what I asked and what I was told. Plus, I asked for an email confirming our phone call and got none though I did go online later that day to check my account and saw the totals changed but did not look to see what packages were changed. It's hard to see any based on my account so I'm not even sure what else has been changed. I was flat out lied to and I am mad enough to finally cancel phone and tv and stream only via youtube TV or Sling. I've been a very loyal Cox customer both at home and at my small office for DECADES and this is how they treat a long time customer? My venting today is proof that if not given what I was told, faithfully, I will cancel my tv and phone service for good. This is not in any way fair and certainly not legal but of course, Cox holds the cards as always. Shame on you Cox. A supervisor will hear my side (the true side) Monday morning when they open! Re: When will we see speed increases? Bump! When will we see speed increases? In many areas throughout the country, users are reporting that they continually have seen internet speed increases with price increases. Now that prices in the New Orleans area have increases (again!) when will be see the speed increase? I've had the same speed for over 2 years and the only thing I've noticed is upload speeds have increased. That part is odd since my uploads are reported at faster than downloads. That's not helping most folks. Charter is reporting that their compatible service is 18 Mbps and Cox is 15 (without powerboost which is a farce anyway). I get 16 so I am happy to get a bit more than I pay for but want more if I'm paying more.
