We are experiencing intermittent sound loss on our cable channels. It goes out for 10 -15 seconds, then comes back for the same period (or a little longer) then goes out again. The next day it will be fine, but then start up a few days later. It happens on all cable channels, but it does not happen to the Samsung TV when I'm using my DVD player, so I assume it's the cable signal or box, not the TV. Any thoughts? A previous post talked about replacing the cable box, is that the proper solution? Thank you in advance!

Is the cable to the TV an HDMI cable or component cables?

What type of receiver do you have? Is it a DVR? If so, does the sound skip in the same spots if you rewind it? Also, we will need to know the specific channel numbers and times that this occurs in order to review.

No sound cables. Direct from cable box into TV. Using TV's speakers

Try using component cables for your video and audio. It could be an intermittent hand-shake issue. Let us know if it goes away when using component.

Hello,

Is this TV connected to a Digital Set-Top-Box, or a Mini Box? What HD channels have been experiencing audio troubles? Is the picture quality okay when this happens?

We have this same sound issue. All channels. Both TV's. One TV has mini-box and the other has cable box with DVR. All cables are HDMI. The issue seems to have manifested itself over the past couple of weeks and is very annoying.

Hi UAL040,

In the Settings menu of the DVR and the mini box, check the Audio/Video settings and make sure the Digital Output is set to HDMI. If you have the option to set the Audio Range, choose the Narrow option. If you have an option for Volume Control, set it to Fixed. (The receivers will have different audio setting options.)

Please let us know if changing these settings has a positive result.
