Recording and playback issues

My box has stopped recording programs again.  Previously the issue was a bad firmware update that had been pushed out, and the issue was resolved when a new one came out.  Also, when I try to play any programs that I had recorded prior to this issue, I receive error message 2.1.2.10, and even though my program list shows about 10-15 programs still listed to watch, the space used says 99% free.

Any ideas?  Another bad firmware update that got pushed out again?

  • JayM,

The error 2.1.2.10 specifically has to do with playing back recordings from a client box. Are you able to play recordings right from the DVR?  Are the missing recordings showing up as missed recordings?

According to the box, the shows are recording (at least it shows the red circle check in the guide) but it doesn't actually start recording.  None are listed as missed recordings.  This message is coming up for shows that were recorded before the recording issues started and playing from both the dvr and the secondary box.

Right now it is not recording scheduled recordings, it will only record shows that I manually record at the time the programs come on.  Those will play properly.

For more info, box model is Cisco Explorer 8642HDC, second box is Cisco 4742HDC.

  • Hi JayM, please note what troubleshooting steps have been done so far. Has the cable box been power cycled (unplug the power cord for two minutes, then plug it back in)? Have you contacted technical support to have a signal sent to the cable box? Have you checked all the connection to make sure nothing has become loose? If  you have already taken these or any other basic troubleshooting measures, please let us know.
