Request for New Cisco SDV Tuning Adapter Firmware

Cisco and TiVo have identified a bug in the currently deployed Cisco SDV Tuning Adapter Firmware, where tuning requests fail randomly and the failure rate increases the longer the TA has not been rebooted.    Issue most notably presents itself in 4 and 6 tuner TiVos.

What is the best way to get Cox to act on this request?

The Current Cisco TA Firmware is:
FLASH: STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1601

The Newly Released Firmware is:
FLASH: STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1901

I second this request.  I am tired of having to reboot the Cox supplied equipment to received all of the channels, all of the time, that I currently pay for.

I just got my TiVo Premier XL4. I've been trying to get the Cisco TA to activate for a few days now, but no luck. Cox is sending a tech Sunday. Can the tech upgrade the firmware?

The Cisco TA should automatically download the latest firmware when powered up and connected to the Coax (assuming your signal levels are good, and 2-way connection is present to the cable plant)

The latest firmware Cox has available is:
    FLASH: STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1601

The Cox tech cannot manually update the firmware, it has to be available on the cable plant first.

Early reports from BrightHouse customers say the new Cisco TA firmware is a sucess :-)

  • Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the update and the link to the TiVo Forum information!

Siremmitt, was the tech able to resolve the issue this weekend?

Kingpcgeek, did you receive your Tuning Adapter prior to May 2012? If so, we need to get you oure free Tuning Adapter Update Kit to ensure the device is able to tune to MPEG4 above 860 MHz.

Also, are you able to verify the release name/date of the Cisco Tuning Adapter firmware? Check the adapter's firmware version through the following steps:
From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Account & System Info > Tuning Adapter

    Becky,

Can you confirm if the engineers in Atlanta are looking into this issue, new firmware, and have any plans to roll it out to customers?

If beta testers are needed please feel free to contact me.

I know we're looking into it, we've got local people here in VA who are working with Atlanta on this issue with Cisco adapters in NoVA and a different issue with Motorola adapters in Hampton Roads, but I don't know what the current status is. We'll check if there are any updates.

I have the older, 2-tuner TiVo and my Tuning Adapter also poops out periodically.  I have the _F.1601 version also.

Yes, the Techs have been here several times, variously liking and not liking the signal, adding, deleting, changing Amps, etc.

And, of course, the only way that you know that the TA has crashed is when you try to view your recording and find that there was no video signal.  The light on the TA stays on through thick and thin......

Cox:  Please find a working solution.  Thanks!

Can only hope this update solves the problem of having to continually reboot the TA to receive the channels on TiVo!

At least I know that others have the same problem too.
