New Remote Does Not Control TV Volume
Yesterday my old remote, a Cox Universal Remote Control (Silver), failed and I got a new one, a Cox Custom 4 Device (Black), from the local Cox office. My current hook up feeds the TV picture via HDMI and the audio to a set of Bose speakers through the Audio Out connectors on the Cable Box.. There are no other device connections to the box. I kept the TV volume turned down and controlled the Volume using the cable box's volume feature. It seems like I remember to this by setting the Volume Lock to Cable mode but am not sure about that. I do this because the speakers in the TV are lousy. I was trying to set up the new remote to do the same and chose the "Setting Volume Control" to Audio Device" according to the instructions which came with the new remote. Now I can't control the volume at all. Is there any way I can return the system to having the volume set to the default of controlling the TV volume?
And,
Is there a way to have the volume of the Audio Output controlled by the new controller and leave the TV speaker volume turned way down or off?
Thank you very much.
