modem

I have a 5mb internet service.  Can I use Linksys cable modem model BEFCMU10 v4?  I believe it is docsis2.

    There isn't any technical reason it wouldn't work. Its on the Cox approved modem list. The only problem you might run into is getting the modem on the account if its used or at one point didnt belong to you. But a DOCSIS 2.0 modem will still work. Its like a older 2G cell phone, it will still work on a 4G network, you just won't get the same performance.

    Cox recommends all customers use a DOCSIS 3.0 device from the list above.
    There are a limited number of DOCSIS 2.0 devices that will continue to work on the Cox network, but if you are on Preferred, Premier, Premier Plus (where available) or the Ultimate tier, Cox strongly recommends that you upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 device for the best consistent speed experience. Future speed increases may not be achievable with these devices.
