Macon, Ga internet speeds

Getting slow internet speeds, is there something going on in the Macon area?  I have premier internet and the speed is terrible today.   Connected directly to Modem VIA Ethernet port,  modem is connected directly to outlet no splitter being used.  Typical speeds I see have been over 50 MBPS down and around  12-20 MBPS upload speeds but today its terrible.  I called support they reset my modem a few times remotely or whatever they do from the office but no luck at getting my speed back to normal.  At times the test gives a decent download speed but its jumpy like only spiking but the upload speeds stay low.  Any suggestions?
