McAfee Security Suite is **!

I've had a lot of incidents where I'll suddenly get a pop-up saying "McAfee Security Host has encountered an error and has to close."  It then asks if I want to send an error report, which I always do, and I'm sure McAfee and Cox are papering their walls with them.  This pop-up causes me to lose my internet connection, and I often can't get it back unless I reboot my computer.

Last night, May 15, I finally got fed up and contacted McAfee.  Their online tech support tried to help me with the problem, but finally told me to try uninstalling and then reinstalling McAfee Security Suite.  I did this, and it took me three tries before it would successfully download to reinstall.  Twice, I contacted Cox Support.  They basically did nothing, patted me on the head and asked if I needed anything else, ignored what I said, and disconnected.  I can only guess they were going back to their video games or getting stoned or both.

Tonight, May 16, I was online, when the pop-up appeared again!  I got in touch with McAfee again, and now I have to wait tomorrow for a phone call from their techies.

If I have the pop-up problem again after I talk with them, that's it.  I will restart the subscription I had before Cox forced McAfee on me and go back to Norton Security.  And if Cox asks me to reinstall McAfee, I will tell them WHERE they can reinstall it!  McAfee is nothing but trouble, and the Cox online customer "support" is worthless!

  • You are not required to use the Mcafee security I have Cox and use Norton never have used theirs and have never been told I had too.  Sorry it's a been a problem like I said I use Norton but have several friends that use Cox Mcafee and have never had a problem.  Hope going back to Norton resolves your problems.

  • I have been having the same problem and at least two other  people i know here in Omaha have been having the same problem.  All of us are considering on dropping our cox service and If I do that I will also do away with the TV and go to dish so if they dont do something soon they will lose a bunch of customers.  This has been going on for at least three weeks or more and is quite frustrating having to reboot all the time - funny thing is sometimes after a minute or two system will reconnect and other times takes a complete rebooting - all the error messages, and there is a lot of them, mention McAfee.  Hopefully someone at Cox will read this email and let me know what is going on.  It doesnt seem to matter which browser as I use both IE and Google Chrome and get messages on both.
