Yes, but sometimes it doesn't work, specially for the newer model modems and gateways. How it is supposed to work is when you connect the modem to a working Cox coaxial/cable line, it will come online but only give out a private 172.x.x.x IP. This IP allows you access to Cox's network, and when you try to go online, it should redirect you to a webpage asking for your account and modem information. The system has problems adding modems to current accounts sometimes, as opposed to creating a new account.
