Could you please share with us, the size of your backup?

50GB

I too have ultimate and am hitting similar limits at about 50gb.  Is there a way to establish multiple backup sets on a single PC?  I just upgraded to Ultimate BECAUSE of the included backup service. I am migrating from Mozy which flawlessly backed up roughly 100gb data. I maintaining Mozy (backups paused) until Cox on-line backup is able to confirm that the data has been backed up.  I spend about 20/mo on Mozy and figured I would get better value with the built in Cox service.

 Not looking good... tho.  Ultimate gave me about 2mb greater u/l speed, but download is basically same as premium at about 15-20mb/sec typical. Unlimited On-Line backup was teh deciding factor for me. BUT IT HAS TO WORK.

Cox online backup is no Mozy.  The application is weak and not reliable for true unattended backups.

The Cox app seems to have trouble with large backup sets during the analysis phase.  It must use rsync or something similar and just cant handle such a large difference file when the backup set is too big.

I was able to get around the apparent limitation by doing the backup in lifts.  I am at about 20GB at the moment.  Fortunately I am backing up a WHS2011 server so most of the stuff I am pushing to Cox is fairly static: Pics, documents, music.  Havent hit my video files yet.   That will be fun.

I also cannot yet confirm if it will run as a scheduled task with no user session going on the server.  I typically just remote onto my WHS box and run a backup and include more stuff each time.

Not a very good application for those that need it but it can act as a true fail safe for your stuff if your house burns down.

When uploading large file sets to Cox Secure Online Backup, we recommend using the "Cox Secure Online Backup for Windows" application, which you can download from the ‘Software’ section, after logging into Cox Secure Online Backup at www.cox.com/backup.  Uploading large file sets through the Cox Secure Online Backup web portal is not recommended to due Adobe Flash limitations, which do not support uploads greater than 1 GB.  If you are still experiencing issues with the product, please give our Cox Secure Online Backup support a call at 800-923-7580.

I appreciate the advice but I am using the Windows application and not the online web site.  It is the Windows application that is generating the error regarding the backup set is too large.  This only happens when I add too many large files to the set at one time that need to be backed up for the first time.  Once the files have been transmitted then the application works fine.  It is likely due to the fact that the application cannot handle a large initial backup set.

Is that response a joke (?).  You really think we are trying to back up our  50GB data using the web interface?  

Please why is the WINDOWS backup application having problems backing up large volumes?  My testing shows that this is NOT nearly as reliable nor as transparent as Mozy.  The documentation is incomplete and does not fully explain the features.  It is not clear if subsequent backups, after the initial  only back up changed data or all the files files on each back up schedule. This is a critical feature for managing data consumption and data security.  The COX task bar keeps popping up intrusive errors,disconnects from server, and not giving me the warm and fuzzy that my critical data is backed up.   

Is this it, is this the best we can expect from this back up program, or is this just a  early "beta" release?

Dreamcutter----I think some service reps believe what is seen on Cox web site. Please do this since I have been a customer 25+yrs, no big file uploads but I do not believe MOST Cox tech have any idea what they are talking about. Please do this for the future---OPT OUT of Cox ARBITRATION if you have a change in service or price increase. For 30 DAYS only from bill date can you OPT OUT. Read bill, go to section 20.7 of Cox service agreement and send letter or email Cox to: ArbitrationOptOut@cox.com                                                               30 DAYS!!!!!

Has there been any new information regarding this problem?  Perhaps a new application version?

I'd like to upgrade to Ultimate with the sole reason to sync my backup folder (4TB+) and 50GB chunks won't cut it.

Is there an unspoken data limit to "unlimited"? Does uploading to COX servers count against my data quota?
