McAfee updates

I have McAfee - Cox Security Suite. The version is 14.0.4121 (click “about” in lower right corner to see your version).

I am running on Windows 10.

The McAfee update wheel is constantly spinning (hanging) without updating. I have to perform updates manually.

I did a full reinstall, but still the same problem.

I checked on McAfee forum who says update 14.0.5084 should fix problem but Cox suite does not update to this version, despite attempting manual updates for the past 2 weeks. Anyone have this problem with fix?

    I am curious why people choose to use Mcafee. Is it familiarity? Do people think it works better just because Cox gives it out? There are so many better free options out there, one that won't stop working if you change ISPs. I am not picking on anyone, just trying to get a taste of other people's reasoning. 

  • I have been having the same problem for a while now. I read another post on this forum from someone also with this happening. I have read the McAfee forums but apparently Cox has not gotten the update to us. I guess you get the update faster when you have purchased directly from McAfee and the updates don't have to go through a third party provider like Cox. It is annoying.

    Will this additional technical assistance be an extra cost to Cox customers?

  • The only time that I have seen where there may be an additional cost is if McAfee support has to get involved in removal of a virus when it may require additional support.

  • There is a more current update for the security software if you read the McAfee forums...when will Cox be getting that to us?. It's not a problem on our end.
