Bottom line, Cox made some sort of change that made a tuning adapter mandatory. It affected many customers here in Tucson. Cox support had no idea this had happened. The Level 2 onsite tech diagnosed it after several calls with the same problem. The Onsite tech was super knowledgeable and outstanding.
Really odd that the tuning adapters take 24 to 48 hours to update their firmware. He was aware of this and said he did know of someone at Cox who could do a manual update but they were not available.
Does anyone know how much longer Cox will support Tivo's? We used their DVR for a few weeks and it was horrible.
